Sounds great but cant get the plastic core material to mash in this Nida Core so I have built a tape dam around the edge and made a thickened West System and pour it in and sand to a flat edge when it cures.. Not sure how it will work on sloped surfaces but I guess we will find out.

I guess everyone assumes that all composites have a paper or foam core. The nice thing with this stuff is you dont have to worry about water penetration.

        New Tohatsu D boat

Hey Shawn...thank you for posting pics......boat is actually 1/2 wider then old boat....made the "wing" a little narrower, as the faster you go the less thickness you need....made a small shoe on each sponson, if it does not work I can either fill it in or take material out and flatten them. Also made left airtrap a little deeper then right one....on the premise that it will hold a little better in corners. Aside from using composite for the bottom and cockpit sides, it should perform about like wrecked boat did....I am thinking that it will be around 20lbs lighter, so I made some hard points under the cowl for lead attachment. Got the cowl mostly faired in today, hopefully this weekend I will have it ready for sealer then off to the paint shop after I come back from national meeting. I have all the bits and pieces for motor...just waiting for dang snow to melt so I can get up the steep hill to motor person. Ya...it is cool to see people like Darren and others upgrading equipment.....can't wait for season st start! 5 US

If you mix up some West 410 it will give you a very smooth finish. You must get the mixture correct, to wet and it will run, to dry and will dry rough and lumpy. I use the 410 to put a radius where the cockpit side meets the decks. It works great!!! Hope this helps.

              DSH twist

Put in almost 3/4 of an inch of twist in it...also, like wrecked boat, there is no offset. I found that with any offset in boat the torque of the Tohatsu wants to pull boat to the right pretty hard..not having any offset seems to counteract that...but I could be mistaken. Dave

                  Dave

torque's to the right??????????? Can't say I have that issue..........maybe since your such a "weenie", you should add hydraulic steering like Alex (not saying Alex is a weenie though..........LOL)!!!!!!!

PS: maybe you should have built the new boat a little narrower, if you think you are going to try to get the inside lane from me.................haha

                    5 us

It's sort of an inside joke.....I got 5th in DSh at Wakefield in 2011, 7th at Oroville etc. Boat pulling to the right could be setup..just not sure. I just decided to go with no offset in hull. Seems to work pretty well. 5 US

                      twist the other direction

might pull you out at the exit pin in turn one this year at nationals.

boat is looking good dave... have daren paint it.

Make sure you have it finished and rigged so you can back that up.
