use a router with a rabbeting bit. you can use the bearing as a guide along the skin of the panel or put a fence on the router if you dont want to go the entire depth of the bit. I set the bit to base of the router slightly more than the thickness of the panel skin. router from both sides of the panel.

    • Sealing honeycomb

I just used a piece of wood slightly narrower then the honeycomb and lightly tapped the inside......seems to work fine. I have some 3 inch air holes drilled in the cockpit side...not sure how I am going to seal those...I will think of something. David Ps...I have more pics of clearcoated boat...maybe Sean can post them for me.

      • Dave, Try a 3/16 eye bolt. Tap lightly to crush the honeycomb. Worked for me.

                            George,

Nice placement of the lightning holes. To often I see these holes places near the bottom. And to often one suffers serious damage to ankles, ligaments, etc when they get caught up in them in the event of a crash. I like the fact you placed them slightly higher so your feet do not automatically slip in.

For the Ghost Rider theme.... well, Dad has that for a lot of years. His is the Molly Hatchet scene though. And with blood dripping off the hatchet airbrushed on. Many a racer finished second to the Ghost Rider.

Dave it looks like those lightning holes are only thru the inner panel and dont go all the way thru..If they did you would have a good view of the competition coming at you? Peek a Boo

Is that a new JDS? Is it from the factory and if so, when did you put the order in? I think those boats have a 2-12 year lead time.
