      Merc 30 MOD

      Thanks Bob,
      We are trying to work with the exhaust systems on the engines. Most of my MOD engines have stainless cones at a 12 degree included angle. In order to flatten the power band of the engine we have gone to 10 degrees. Note also that the ends are flaired. The smaller angle gives up a bit of power but it should work out better comming out of the turns. We will see if it works.

        Shop

        Hi Al,
        The shop in the photo is up at Doug Kay's place. He is a true Merc guy that is second to none in his engine building. My shop is a little bit of a mess!

          Another Merc

          Here are a couple of old photos of my 30-H. This is before the new ignition. I need to get it re-assembled and back on the water, but I've been too short on time.

            I wondered about this, having just hoisted a 102 powerhead up onto a shelf.
            Assuming the mjd and l-u are the same weight for any particular Cmod;
            I weighed my 102 mod with carb, pipe, mag, fuel pump[no tank],14mm plugs,
            and then a 30" Merc Cmod, with carbs, mag, cut down rope plate etc,
            and steel Bayer four pipe exhaust system;

            102= 65#s
            30H = 64#s
