Thanks Bill but that boat is being delivered "only" since it is sold. I know the number is going to be changed to a **R something. The boat only raced in AOF before. Did do one APBA race but knew I would get no points and it is no big deal. Only race for the fun of it.

I hope the passes are nice to me but I am leaving my studs on just in case. I think in Washington they have to come off April 1st but in Montana it is like the Middle of May so I am good in the hood.

          Course

I do not remember off the top of my head how far it is at Eatonville from the start line to the first turn when running a 3/4 mile record course....I am going to bet it is not 1000 feet....but it depends on how Bill Diamond surveys the course in. I do not see an issue, as a stock commissioner, having the run be somewhat shorter. I can't speak for Kyle Bahl, but I would bet he feels the same way. 9 US

The course is going to be the 3/4 mile record course. Any buoys will be as approved on the survey. There is no rule requiring a 1000' buoy. The only rule about the course for a national championship is Safety rule 8)-4) "4. At Stock Outboard national championships, the distance from the starting line to the entrance buoy of the first turn shall be at least 1,000 feet.
If, due to extenuating circumstances, it is not possible to meet this criterion, the race committee must have approval by the majority of commissioners
            present to waive this rule"

I do not know off the top of my head if the distance from the start to the turn is 1000' on the survey, but even if it's not we just need approval from the present commissioners. Considering that will likely be KB, and Dave I don't think we'll have to hard a time.

              kyle-

First. This is a winternational and A 3/4 mile record course. This lake is not that big. As you recall at the stock summer nationals last August, they did not use the 1000 foot bouy. This is mostly a suggestion, not a rule. With only about an 8 second run to the start/finish line and already a tight squeeze in turn 2 the 1000 foot bouy is not doable at this race course.

Secondly. Milling....I don't think the race committee will be able to do anything about it. It's too small a lake (not a wakefield, Lawrence, or Whitney point). If you would like to mill way out on the back stretch and leave me lane 1...go for it!

At Oroville Nationals last August we did not use the 1000ft buoy because it is not a rule. We felt all it do would be to move the pinch point another 500 feet away from the view of the judges stand. We had 500ft from the 2nd turn exit pin to the start pin and that is the rule.
The rough water in turn one was a surprise for us that we did not expect. Not all classes had that rough of water. Remember we had 12 boats all exiting the pits at the same time plus the first turn was moved further down the course to comply with the 1000 foot rule between the start buoy and first turn buoy. That caused all the getting on plane wakes to be in the first turn at the start. What we did was extend the 3 min gun to 5min. Then for safety reasons I did not start the 5 min countdown till all the boats cleared the outer bouy exiting the pits. Made a big difference.

Most of you are too young to remember the Boston Nationals on the Charles River in 1963. Talk about rough!!!!!
I have attended Eatonville. if there are 12 boats it WILL be rough and I don't think any records will be set.
For those who think Bakersfield is not rough in the 2nd turn with 12 boats LOL.

Maybe we'll get to see some old Unlimited tricks going off plane unless rule book says otherwise

Kyle (L), that must the rough water from Winter Nats last year

Unlimited "tricks" only work to the extent that you can get a Y302 to spool up as quick as an L7-C. Good luck with that.

                      Rough water

I did not think the water in turn one at Oroville was rough at all. For whatever reason my boat went right over the top of it. As far as Eatonville goes....we have tried everything to make the water calm...such as putting the starting clock on a barge on the other side of the lake. Boy was THAT a pain in the behind.....David
