So you would need 30% of all registered stock members or the class under the stock?
I believe 30% of the active class members on a petition it HAS to go to ballot no matter what the commission does.

Example: If there was 100 drivers in 20SSH and they wanted to change a motor rule, 30 drivers on a petition would force a ballot vote for that class. Commission can't stop it or change it. Majority rules. Anyone who doesn't vote doesn't count.

The best thing to do is verify this with the SO chairman as the numbers of petitioners needed might be a different percentage.

So in this example ASH would need 26 of 87 drivers to make a vote and a block of 44 drivers could do any thing they want. Power to the people.

So here is your homework Matt...Can the members vote out a motor in a class or is that 100% the responsibility of SORC? In our US government the people can overturn laws that their representatives passed. (See heath care laws...wishful thinking)

By the way it is spelled healthcare.......not heathcare as in Heathbar(my favorite). I did my homework, i directed you to the part of the rule book that addressed your question. I did not say i understood the 3 pages of overlapping intoxicating ramblings just that i knew where it was! Oh and if memory serves me, you teach 'public speaking'.

As far as the members voting out a motor.........the way i read the rulebook it is possible to do as 225-V highlighted!!

        See ya!

eerrrr ahh lemme see heah!! As all of you postors or postees must have noticed by now... is the fact that the grand poobah folks have refrained/abstained/read silently/not read HR/or are just too busy trying to earn a living to comment on this matter.

Instead, we have some erstwhile souls who obviously passed Typing Two (judging by the volume of rules/wording they have retyped here for us to gurgitate over. Personally, I find myself somewhat 'reading comprehension challenged' when it comes to reading our rulebook. I find it much like Federal Aviation Regs which used to be written for us freaking pilots.... but now are written by lawyers for lawyers.

If you have read this far (I commend you!!) I will also say that I find the excuse, IE: that a member should attend the National meeting, etc. I find that a real stretch (budget-wise!). And electing a Commissioner who shares our viewpoint falls apart when other Commisioners don't.

I may be wrong, but I think the folks in the Mod Category do put a lot of their ideas (proposed changes to things) out for their membership to vote on. I believe getting the membership involved is a good idea. I also think adding more rules needs to be heavily restrained. Like mandatory cut suit certification. Like mandatory cockpit reinforcement. Like mandatory rear-view mirrors. Like three separate definitions for rounded pickleforks. Like J throttle linkage variants. Etc.

Just a sampling of stuff in my mind, not necessarily shared by other members whom I have a good deal of respect for.

But, the big thing to keep in mind.... is the fact that some rule which gets passed this January, might welld get trashed at the following years meeting, if enough members loudly voiced their disapproval. That's what happened when the SORC tossed the Merc 15 out and then re-instated it. Common sense and the will of the members were a factor. However, the Commissioners sitting around the table held the hammer... re-instatement passed but not by a landslide, my friends.

So, there it is. Attending the National meeting is great if one has the spare coins and time. But, it's certainly no guarantee that a persons views will be heard, much less favorably considered.

I really like seeing all this put out on the table here on Hydro Racer. I wish more folks would put their thoughts out for view. This forum is so much superior to sitting around a big table or in a conference room where every minute counts. Here at least, someone with warped views like myself, can be heard (read) without being cut-off. And... catch all the flack that my viewpoint might engender. Hey.. I can take it.

No elected official is responsible to represent the interests of the sport as a whole.

              Until that changes......nothing will change.....

Spelling aside...(I should proof read before I send) I bring this up because I have talked to too many people who do not know what to do.

I do like to stir the pot and should be off taking typing and spelling lessons, but I just wanted to know if it could be done. No malice or harm intended.

I can not serve because of my job, but I can ask questions of my leaders. If you have the time check out this link:Click here

Yes 26 of *87 gets the petition to ballot and then a majority of the people who take the time to VOTE decide. So if only 15 vote they decide, 8 votes would win the vote, based on what I understand. PLEASE double check with the SO chairman to make sure.
