    the rules.....

Perhaps you should check your rules, yes you find it and read it.

In a nutshell, it allows you to run any engine in any class as a prototype for no points. It gives someone a chance to prove their proposal of an engine is not going to obsolete the current platform. Nobody wants that to happen. So go find that rul in the book, and read up on the exact wording and how to implement it, etc.

I believe you will find your answers here. You might not get points for next season running it in the mod class you choose, but it might prove or disprove your point.

I know 400CCM needs help in terms of numbers. I feel the class is nearly gone now as people are always needing to contact each other to make sure there are enough.
the MORC still has to "approve" a "prototype" motor for a class............

Why don't you write up a proposal and post it here. Then people can pick it apart, offer suggestions, support your arguments, and others can offer support or not. Then once this is debated here, you can tweak your final proposal if you want to, and email it off to your Region commisioner to address in Detroit this next meeting.

I suggest using regular lingo... I know you can I have talked to you enough times at the races.

                ------------------------------------------------------------------------------
The 2010 racing season is over. Congratulations to
all of the High Point champions. For those of you
that challenged for high points, keep trying. Perseverance
pays off. I attended a lot of races this year and
witnessed a lot of very competitive racing.
By now, region meetings have taken place and the
Modified Commission should be in place. This is the
time to voice your concerns and present your proposals
to myself or your commissioner in order to be considered
at the National Meeting in January in Detroit.
                Your proposal should state:
                • The rule that you want changed as it now reads
                • Your version with the proposed changes as you
would like it to read in the 2011 rule book
                • The reason for the change—and, if required
                • Data to support your proposal.
Please try to get proposals in by mid-December.
This gives me time to include your proposal in the National
Meeting packet sent to all of the commissioners
in early January. Include your telephone number with
your proposal so that I or your commissioner can call
you with any questions that we may have pertaining to
                your proposal.
With meeting time being limited, it is important to
get your ideas submitted early. Last-minute proposals
generally do not get the attention that they deserve.
Congratulations to John Maroney. John set a new
3 lap / 3 mile competition record of 66.482 MPH in
500ccMH at Lake Lawrence in Yelm, Washington on
                September 26, 2010.
                -----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------End Quote
It's the system that Mod has had for years.............Good to get stuff done.......
But scary cause there's no debate'n a proposal .......BEFORE.......... it go's to vote.....

Especially if your a minority engine owner that is runn'n down/come'n close to a win against the majority engine......It creates a situation where as a driver your welcome to support a class to keep'm out there ,....But if ever your in da final stretch in da lead,....Do ya take the checkard ....or pull the kill switch?.................
Cause next year you could face a bunch of rule changes against ya.............."If ya can't beat em on da race course,.....beat'm with a rule change!"

                        Hang in there Frenchie...

I am still hoping for a resolution to the 25xs situation. Last year at Seattle I sent in a proposal with a few MORC members to have us added as a probationary motor with all current stock specifications. I could not be present due to being in the SORC meetings at the same time.
Even though the records in 400cch and 25ssh are almost exact we were tossed out. Many fear that a couple of the faster guys may win a race. I wonder if that would be all that bad since there is hardly anyone left anyway.

I understand now that I used the wrong terminology in my proposal. This time I will use the work "prototype" instead of "probationary" to hopefully get the opportunity to race in the modified category for the first time in my career.

Many argue that we need testing data? Sure I could blow smoke with numbers all day. The best data will be observed on the race course to see if the engines are compatible or not. I do not want to hurt 400cch. If we are faster around the course then we will know this isn't the answer. If so, we could put our restrictor plates back in that are rolling around in our tool boxes.

I look forward to trying to beat the fast guys in the class with my stocker. It sure as heck won't be easy to beat great drivers such as Miller and Wheeler. But, if the MORC doesn't need any more drivers in the category, I will just shut up and go back to where I grew up.

                          Jeff,
I have drifted from the original topic of this thread....SURPRISE??!!!!

Like we talk'd at the "Fun-Run".........I think 25SSH will survive and the 25XS will probably find a prototype spot in MOD......

My last rant above...... in this thread is about the ballot system........I guess I should also shut-up cause it has served well when things went the way I hoped they would.......(22 OMC/MERC in A-MOD........OMC-A foot/yamato 302 foot in 25MOD......etc)

It just seems there is a step miss'n between the author of a proposal and when the the ballot winds up in da mail box for a vote..........?
Without being able to attend the convention where a well organized presenter of a proposal can present a change at the last minute with little if any debate,........ and without live coverage of the meet'n......all the membership can do is hope the Commisioners have enough fore-site and knowledge of issues of a class,..... to see how the class can be effected........
Especially on big proposals that affect an entire class's structure.....

Well enough of this rant......back to the mushroom cave......................

I have been racing since 2005, my only ride being DSH 44XS.
Jeff, Steve, or anyone, put me in one to test next spring.
I may get hooked! If thats the case Stock, Mod will make no difference

Thanks Steve. Looking forward to next spring.
I also have Doug Hamilton's old B&H. We are going to fix it up over the
winter. He ran a KG-4 or 7 on it at the lake. Thought it would be a good
boat for the 25SS. The boat is similar to Fast Freddie's 86-P and Mike's 45-P
Steeler ride. Do you think we could run a 25XS on this Boat?

                                Thanks,

                                Doug
