I have a Yamato poster that has Six Japanese Stadium racers competing and several lines with Japanese writing--It will be in my trailer and I will give it to the first Driver that owns Yamato's and activly races that is at a USTS race in2011 that asks for it. It is in a frame about 20 inches by 36 inches

PS its pretty cool and should be in the hands of a Yamato lover

they sound better than hot rods, even with pipes.

The nice thing about a Yamato is in the 3 years I have raced I have gone out and come back everytime except for one swimming episode. Never been on the end of a tow line for an engine faliure. And on that note they are also easy to dry out And yes they do sound good with pipes!!

            - No cowling like a fishing motor
            - If it overheats, you simply cool it down and go back racing
            - No impeller to break and cook motor

            - Good for drivers from 125 up to 225 lbs.
            - Japanese Quality
            - Very seldom see one blow up
            - They look cool...like a real race motor
            - They are raced Worldwide
            - It’s fairly inexpensive to buy one
            - They are arguably the most dependable engine we have ever raced in outboards
            - Most parts are available at the dealer
            - I like the grease they produce
            - Rewinds are cheap and you can have a 100 of them (this is my favorite)
            - They simply kick a$$!
            LMFAO, what a joke!

How many OMC's or Merc's do see overheating engines? How many Yamato's have overheated and hurt engines? From my personal experience with 30H, 25XS and 2 OMC's vs 1 Yamato that I no longer own; it's Y=2 burnt pistons in 8 years vs ZERO burnt pistons in 26 years with water pump engines.

Not trying to start a pis*ing match here, but the very first time we tested our OMC J, the impeller failed (nobody had noticed that it had stopped peeing) and we scorched that engine into submission.

On the other hand, I've seen Yamatos of every ilk come back steaming only to cool down and get back on the water.

I am not naive enough to think Yamatos are unstoppable. Engine failures happen regardless of brand, but I'm afraid I have to agree with Big Don that the Yamato line is fairly bulletproof.

LOL…it was meant as a joke…but if we are counting…we have cooked more OMC & Mercury’s since with water pump failures than we have cooked Yamato’s. We’ll maybe not if I count the one year we had a boat failure and cooked 2 80’s. Not sure it would be close…

Good thing is when you do overheat a Yamato you usually can just replace a head gasket and go racing in between heats. Not with an OMC or Mercury…

boy you can sure tell it is getting close to the off season. Seem 90% of the posts turn into a negative or pissing contest. I guess this year will be no different.

Yes it seems like every year it happens. Question is, is it because its the end of the season, or because instead of thinking about racing we are now thinking about the national meeting?

I like the Yamatos cause I can give my friends a hard time about about their Jap crap. and how the tech manual is in some weird language. and other such what not. like how they forgot to put a water pump in, so be carefull what prop you put on it.

                              This is 100% BS

It would be nice if folks would not spread false info like this, but oh well. Jimi Oberto has been in our engines and can testify that a machinist has never touched them. I would consider us to be competitive.

I like it that Tom Johnston always answers the phone and we talk for a few minutes. Try doing this with Mercury or OMC!

                                Thanks TJ!
