As we approach the weekend of 31 July-1August I would encourage all who race to participate in this great experience. I first raced in this event in the late 40s or early 50s and can honestly say it's the best weekend of racing I've ever had. Whether you're a spectator or racer, it can't be equaled. Everybody helps one another to get in and finish. Have fun. Run a real race. Jack

I agree... Living in Indian River and growing up watching the race, here I am LOVING every last minute of the race...(except for the part when I try to get out of my boat after the race and fall to the ground due to exteme numbness in the leg and feet region) Nothing beats the racing experience of being able to travel the rivers at wide open throttle. The Adrenaline that flows through your veins just seeing the massive crowd of spectators lining the river banks and sand bars throughout the course. All- in- All just being a part of Top-O is an honor!!!! Oh yea.. the partying is pretty good too!!!

Due to family health problems, I cannot make it to the race this year. But I want to encourage anybody who has never been to the Top O' to shoot for this race. If not this season, one in the near future. Steve Roskowski said it best in 2007:

From the friendly people in the pits, to the spectators, and everyone else around you won't feel more welcome at any race site. Once you hit the water and wait for your class to get released to the course, the excitement just grows. There are more people lining the shore than you will ever see at another race. The variety of water conditions and lake vs. rivers makes it a very dynamic and VERY fun run. You won't be dissapointed. My rewind broke on Sunday so I didn't get to run the full course, but even at that is was the best two days of racing I've ever had.
Thanks again for all the help and hospitality. I'm just mad it took me this long to finally get up there. I hope this will help others from making the same mistake.
