  • Lock Haven NE Divisionals

Well you boat racers did it again!!!! Just when I thought we would not have a great turnout, you racers surprised the hell out of me. 94 entires WOW!!!!!!!! Despite some iffy and hot and humid weather we were able to finish Saturday by 5:45 and Sunday by 4:45. If I took the time to thank everyone individually I would no doubt forget someone and this thread would go on forever.
I thank ALL of you, racers, pit crews, ambulance people, Dunnston Fire Company, Lock Haven Jaycees, patrol boat people, judges stand workers, and anyone else who had a hand in making the NE Divisionals a success.
Just a note: we are planning to run in Lock Haven on the second week in June for the forseeable future. SO, if you missed it this year...why not come give it a try
And of course...we will always be there on Labor Day weekend. So those of you who missed the June race, and/or those of you who cannot make it to California for the Summer Nationals..bring you and your families, and your stuff to Lock Haven on Labor Day weekend.

Back to the number of entires: we had boats from every region from 1 through 7. Someone told me that other than the Winter Nationals, this was the most entires they had seen so far this year at a race.
THANK YOU!!!!!!!! All you boat racers, and your families, are awesome and you never fail to surprise me with your willingness to travel great distances and help out whenever and wherever you are needed

I am lucky to be associated with such great and dedicated people.

How many classes pre qualified someone for the Nationals? Grass lake is around the corner and we are expecting a big turn out also. Bring it on lets see who has the smoking rig this year. Mikey

          From what I heard;

          20SSH - AJ Jennings
          CSH - Scott Clark

No other classes had 8 or Northeast Drivers win...

That would be Bobby Austin in his 20ci Sidewinder powered 25SSR. Boat looked good out front.

Biggest class of the weekend was JH with Ten boats, the kids had a great time as did the adults not much differance there just in age

The comment about Bob Austin's boat being a "runaplane and/or hydrobout" was very interesting,I hope it was "tongue in cheek". That being the case did anyone happen to take any photos of his boat. My son and I were at the 2010 Winter Nationals, we heard a rumor that Bob was going to attend those races, never saw him though. My son was fortunate to own one of his boats, and raced it with some success, (no offense Mr. Bowman, we also owned and raced an "A" bezoats also with some success). We were just curious to see if his boat was "radical" or what in its design,we know it certainly be legal.

Thank you Phil, great work as usual.

As far as the boat being legal goes. By rule, anything thats not a Hydroplane is a runabout. The old ABCD dimensions no longer exist and your definitely seeing some different designs out there.

Congrats to Bobby for doing something different and clearly making it work.

                      Wish I had been there.

                      See ya in the fall

I always thought it was "anything that is not a Runabout is a Hydroplane" The line is becoming blurry.

I spoke with Bobbie last weekend at Lockhaven and he may be at the race this weekend in Constantine. I sure hope so, it's always a pleasure to see him, he's such a genuinely good guy!
