  • Tiny Tach

I have the basic Tiny Tach which just gives rpm and doubles as an hour-meter.I installed it as per instructions with a ground to the crankcase and the red wire wrapped around a plug wire.It orriginally only read half the rpm.I then wrapped the red pick up (sensing) wire two turns around one plug lead and the rest of the wire two turns around the other plug wire and it's worked great since. I'm getting 7200 rpm now at top speed.Hope this info is of some help ? Install a male connector to an engine stud and crimp the appropriate female terminal to the end of the ground wire so when you want to remove your engine just pull the ground terminal and un-wrap the sense wire.

Glen, you have the same one I have in my boat from last year and it works fine but now I have the new upgrade called the Commercial Gas Model and it has more functions. You have to tell it how many pulses per revolution such as 180,360,720. Then there are more steps. Can't get it to display rpm's at all.

        • This is what I have: http://wwwtinytach.com/tinytach/commercial.php

I think I figured it out. The minute the engine is started the meter should automatically read RPM. So I must have a bad connection at the motor.

              • These props are 6.75 diameter. Hope this helps folks that want to get into this class. I plan to take good rpm readings so that I can give Craig good feed back. He is a nice person to work with. I have two tachs in the boat so one has to work
