  • Good point Jack

I cant believe how many people I see with GPS's taped to their forearms.

Ya, I get it, you want to try to read it while your underway, but if the info is bogus whats the point?

    Get one with a memory.

    • These are all good points. My GPS is mounted to the dash. I never thought about it but even if you never let up in a race the rough water will cause the prop to surface at times and you will just lose speed even if you keep it pegged. And then if you are forced out of you grove that will effect everything else also.

I guess the best thing to do is leave the GPS out of the boat after testing.

That's the great part. She was born a racer in SOA and raced for many years herself, so she knows what it is all about. I have the green light to race anytime I want. I am the one who has chosen to step back. But all this smack talkin makes me want to fire off something that will go fast.

Heck we could put her in the c-mod. I bet with her 119 lbs in it it'd really fly....LOL

Maybe thats all the boat needs. A much lighter person. She could race with me and I hope I have helped talk another person into making a come back in C mod. He had a good time in CSH last weekend after they removed the restrictor plate

We will have a lot of folks racing in classes that they have not raced in for a while. Next race, Montana, I told Dan Surfus I would race with him in Y-80. Should be a hoot with us old duffers. Mike you want to join. Montana would be a nice vacation. I am sure we could get you a ride.

          • I hope your talking about Josh Harnack. He's got a good running c-mod that I built twin pipes for several years ago. It ran real well before it **** the bed. Rumor has it, the powerhead is back togethor. Now he just needs to be motivated to bring it out, and trust me I've been working on him.

Thats the one. Its hard to run when you have no one else to compete against and have to run against the E mods or SE's. Thats like following a ferry boat in a 11 foot dingy. The wakes are nasty

I'm sure your 8" dia prop doesn't help any either. However, I don't really know as I don't ever remember being behind you???

I agree. The nice thing is, when you do need more boats to make a class, it's easy to find a few c-stockers who want to make additional laps. Plus it's more revenue for the club. Once people see how much fun you (and Josh) are having, others will build them as well.

Moving in the boat will only ever give you a false reading of faster!

The GPS saves your max speed. It won't show anything slower, if it updates when you pull yourself forward at top speed it might capture that.

If you are running is a strong current the GPS will register faster one way than the other, where a speedo tube would likely show the same speed in both directions.

Anyway, you will reduce your chance of a false reading if the GPS is attached to the boat.

                      • The reason they have been putting me in E-Mod is because they are hurting for enough boats to run but we will see what happens this next race. Since Kevin Martin is not running in Montana I will have to work on some more folks.

Another question. I just purchased the new multi function Tiny Tach and can't get it to give us a reading for RPM. I have even tried using the "INSTRUCTIONS" but still no luck. Are there any tricks I am not aware of?? Now that I have the new props and Craig needs data I plan to take my old single function Tiny tach out of my other boat but it would be nice to get this one to work also.

                        • I'm not that familiar with the tiny tach products. Josh runs one in his c-mod and I know we've had problems with it in the past. Usually when we had problems with it, it was due to installer error and it only read 1/2 of the actual rpm. The only tach's I run are the Digatron's.

Does your have the wire wrap to go around the plug wire? Or, is it an inductive style which zip ties to the plug wire?

Calls for 4 turns around the plug wire.

That's the way Josh's is also. If I remember right, we installed it with four turns tightly around the plug wire. Then wrapped it with electrical tape to keep it tight. Also, I believe there is a ground wire that we just attached to one of the bolts on the block.

Are you getting no reading at all? Or incorrect readings?

Find a d-stock guy to step up into e-mod. Then create a c-mod class with c stock step ups. This will create more revenue, and more boats on the water, and a better show for your first race in Montana.
