    B&H Hydro

Mike, I believe that is a B& H hydro built by Sam Hemp from Wisconsin. I think it was Jeff Runzel's BSH that won the Nationals in Wakefield Mi.

Could also be one of the Lester Bros older A/B boats (60-D)? But most probably a B&H made in the early-mid 90's.

Still a very competitve boat if your interested in racing.

It is designed for a 15-20HP motor with a racing gearfoot.

If your doing a stock (fishing/shift) foot I would not go over 20HP and 15HP would be enough to thrill ya!

I have some older 18 Johnsons,Maybe I will try one of those.I also have a newer 15.This boat has a 15 inch transom,What would it have been raced with a 15hp OMC?

          Thanks

Its a pre-1996 B&H boat. Its hard to tell where it might have come from without knowing more about its size. I don't know where Jeff Ruenzel's BSH- that's a REAL B Hot Rod, not the wimpy 15 cubic inch version they want to pass off as a B nowdays- went. Ruenzel had one of the most memorable victories in my memory at a Nationals. As a first year driver in the most competitive class, BSH, Jeff won the first final heat by a good margain. We told him to play it cool the second heat and he would win. Jeff Hutchins got out in front and people assumed he'd win that heat. But Ruenzel ran him down and passed him on the outside like a real veteran. Other guys had raced for years and never passed Hutch on the outside! When he got back in he said he knew he didn't have to pass Hutchins to win, he just wanted to pass him because he (Jeff H) was the best. And, yes, he did get luckey that evening although that is a much longer story. I thought Ruenzel's boat may have had some dark plywood on it but am not certain about that. Paint scheme is similar to Jon Lesters stuff but he only ran big stuff and his brother ran A but in Giles boats at least as far as I remember.

I believe 60-D is/was Tony Lester's boat number. I'm sure he could add more to where this boat came from. I'll try to get some feedback from him.

The "D" means whoever raced it with that number was from Connecticut.

                    Another B&H

This is my boat which is a B&H as well. As you can see they can handle a pretty good motor. Mine has a Mark 55H for power.

                      Passing "The Hutch"

                      Sammy,

Seems to me someone else passed Hutch on the outside at Wakefield in 1986 in the 2nd heat for a World Champioship and a National Championship.

I think that race was taped, but not sure.

I can remember it was not a B&H though.

Can't remenber the who built the boat, who the driver was or the class???

                        Warby,

But he was probably not a new driver at his first nationals!

Was it or Was it Not??

                          Ok, Probably a Veteran Driver?

But was the 20 cube Hot Rod DRY or a WET engine. Big difference there.

That was John Lesters rig, I think thats the boat he set the record with in Lakeland.

Do you know what motor he was running on it? The boat dosnt look like it was used much,it is in excellent condition.
