We have had 4 conference calls if you are counting and a meeting at Grass Lake. Not to mention a few hundred emails and phone calls to many commissioners one on one. The commission has been communicating and following through. Cleaning up the rule book and the tech manual. It has not been updated in a number of years.

Since you've called everyone out here's my response to you Dear Sir:

A.) I didn't realize this was the official forum for APBA politics and that I was required to use it.

B.) You have a lot to say, and mind you I don't disagree with all of it, are you throwing your hat in the ring for ‘10?

C.) I have removed my name from the Region 3 ballot for 2010. I am not seeking a reelection nor an appointment. I have but 2-weeks left. With that being said I will leave Region 3’s perspective to that individual who will have a vote in WA.

D.) If there is anything specific you'd like to know about my voting record over the past 2 years I'd be happy to share my thoughts with you. I can tell you that as a representative of Region 3 I did make a practice of reaching out to the membership base prior to each national meeting. We discussed issues and I represented the majority accordingly. I haven't always agreed with my constituents but my vote always reflected the member majority of Region 3 and Region 3 only.

          Troy Gladkowski
          (Soon to be X Commissioner)

While this may not be the official forum for APBA politics or more specifically the Stock category for this discussion, it indeed has a huge impact and has the capabilities to be the official site for categories if they so chose.

If the SORC didn’t think so then they probably wouldn’t be donating some of the Stock Promotional money towards it. I know they are hoping it will help promote our sport but it certainly has other benefits.

These numbers are from 2008…According to Nielsen’s National TV panel, around 80.6% homes in US possess a computer in their home. Around 91.6% of these households have Internet connection. We may not have everyone posting but we all know a lot of racers that say they saw something on here but have never posted.

It’s 2009 we don’t have to do everything like we have always done thing in regards to meetings and getting other involved and getting their opinions.

              Thanks Troy  From: Dear Sir

Here is some numbers to look at. This is a list of how many people entered a race in all the stock and J classes this year so far.

              JSR-32 JSH-67
              AXR-43 AXH-69
              ASR-69 ASH-96
              BSR-23 BSH-28
              CSR-90 CSH-131
              DSR-9 DSH-41
              25R-47 20SSH-101
              25SSH-29

Now Scott stated that: I have seen what the restrictted 102/302 has done to the CSR class. CSR is our 4th largest class. It is the largest runabout class for us boys who don't need training wheels. It looks to me like the 25R numbers have went way down since we started restricting the 102/302. ( No one can beat fast Ed Hearn with Joey's Mercury so they all moved up to CSR) DSH numbers look like they have went up since the introduction of the Tahatsu. Take a look and see where you think we can get the most bang for our buc. Mikey

Our Region 12 Commissioner is in constant contact with our SO members... NOT via this web site. I'm sure our Commissioner will have a lot to say "as usual" at the National Meeting....

My reply to the most hijacked thread ever in our history.

Many commissioners may feel that argueing on Hydroracer is not their cup of tea and that is fine. I don't blame them a bit for their silence due to the conduct of many on this site. If anyone has a desire to discuss politics with me all they have to do is click on my name on this site to send a pm or email. Those that have, know that they will receive an instant response. If you are not the emailing type, that is fine also. PM me for my cell phone number.

I have many opinions and some you may not agree with. But, I have had 37 straight years of racing to form them and I promise they are based completely on a sickening over zealous love of stock outboard. I have no hidden agenda and will talk openly with anyone. To be honest, the past two years on the SORC has not been what I had hoped and once our season is over I will then have time to decide if I wish to proceed any further.

For those who have never been on a commission I ask you to give it a try. If you put your heart into it like many of us, you will find that it is not easy. After you spend hours and hours on the sport, take time off from work and spend a ton of money you probably don't have to attend....you get rewarded by being called names when you return. The handful that have thanked me for my efforts will never be forgotten though. I constantly remind myself that for the cost of a national meeting I could take my wonderful wife on a vacation that she truly deserves.

Please also remember that the steering committee is different from the commission even though several members are on both and in my opinion a huge conflict of interest. For example for those of you that feel the Merc should still be in the A class. There are 7 of the 14 commissioners that feel the same way as you! I take offense to those that call out the SORC on subjects as if it was always a unanimous decision. If you were present in NC you would know I darn near put my chair thru the wall when our leader broke that tie!

Has anyone took the time yet to thank Mr Hearn or Mr Reed in this thread for their hardwork? Don't think so. Personally, I worry about their mental health to even think about another gut wrenching term of leading us again. Both should be honored to care enough to try again, no matter what you think of them personally. Thank you, Ed and Scott.

Well, I knew I would get sucked into this and I have. Now I have typed enough to get smeared real quick I am sure. If you feel the need to do so, then have fun. If you would like to discuss your ideas like a professional adult, then give me a call. My new Verizon cell is free to other Verizon customers and we can yack all night!

p.s. hey mikey, since you neglected us (probably accidently) I must announce that 25ssh is still a class!

I would just like to say that any volunteer job is a thank less job and anyone who has ever taken on one of these positions is to be commended. I am sure some of these dedicated heros sometimes think they should be committed for taking on the task of trying to keep one of the greatest sports alive.

I would like to say that this is a great site to discuss your personal opinions and try to come up with some ideas to improve all aspects of Stock Racing but do not use it for any personal attacks. We will and have deleted all attacks aimed at specific folks who are doing there best.

Well said Jeff. Although we don't always see eye to eye (no short jokes) on some issues, it has been a pleasure working with you and I hope you continue to serve our sport on the commission.

Mike you over looked one stat.

47 CSR racers raced 3 times or less
                          18 raced once

29 25SSR racers raced 3 times or less
                          14 raced once

This phenomena could be explained by drivers switching over to make a race or only racing at the Divisionals and Nationals to get an extra ride.

The Tohatsu worked, too bad we don't have currently in production and new motors for all of the stock classes.........oh wait......we could have. Wow that will really help.

                          A - Sidewinder (probationary)
                          15SS - Sidewinder
                          BSR - Sidewinder (probationary)
BSH - Sidewinder (probationary), restricted 302
                          C - Yamato 302
                          D - Tohatsu

25SSH - Joe Kent, Dave Young, Dave Scott are keeping it going on the east coast through fishing motors....

                            A Engine

I quit racing in 95 to start a family and sold all my stuff. Now my boys are old enough to race and one wants to.Back in 07 my job of 20 years was shut down and i went for five months before i found a job and for the last two years i am only making half of what i did at the foundry.I want to get back into racing with my family but can only afford one engine and thats why i wanted to come back to run A.My kid could run J and i could pull the plate and run A so we could actually run three classes with one rig.We dont care about points we just want to run a few races a year and with my income thats about all we could do thats why i was interested in the merc A.I guess he could still run J and i could run AX he is not old enough for AX yet.Didnt mean to highjack this thread anymore but i couldnt resist

but the way the thing is designed. When you approved the removal of the t-stat and allowed a seal to be made with silicone on the cover you by default allowed the plugging of the hole. I can see everyone is getting all worked up. I am not bashing any commissioner. These things are the questions the members are asking up and down the beach. These are the issues we need answers to during the meeting this year. Just because i brought them up for folks to comment on shouldn't be a problem. As far as your point on how many folks raced one time or 10 this year. Many could only attend a few races due to economic issues. I just wanted to show some stats to the members. If you look at the numbers it looks to me like if we get the Sidewinder going strong we will improve the B numbers greatly. Jeff my bad on the 25 hydro numbers. I had them written down and was so jacked up on mountain dew I forgot them. I'm second generation 39 years into stock racing so I love it just as much as anyone. Keep the questions coming
