What a blast!

Thanks to the Region 1 family of wonderful boatracers! I think I spoke to everyone of you. You are all awesome. We cannot wait to see you again. Left the pits yesterday around 530pm after an amazing award ceremony. There must have been several hundred people cheering the winners.

Sunday started wondering if there would be racing into the day due to the hurricane. But the "Racing Gods" were smiling on Haverhill and the day went without a glitch. They began with the continuation of the 2nd set from Saturday and followed with one heat of Sunday racing to finish the schedule. The crowds returned with more arriving than the day before.

The races of the days were all the classes but the crowds loved Billy Allen in his boats as well as CSH, DSH, ASH and 25!

Here are pics from the race sorry they are so late, after leaving yesterday we drove into one of the arm bands of the hurricane and thought we would have to get in the boats to escape the water! Stopped in NY for the night and slept in and finally arrived home around 430pm.

just a few more awards and while this was going on the judges stand was being returned from the other side of the river. Who was helping? none other than Bill Giles, Chief Referee who worked the stand all weekend, and was making sure it was put away to use for the next race. You rock Bill!

Also special thanks to all the ladies who worked the judges stand. Harriet the club would be lost without you!

Thanks for the award pic's, you saved us the time of posting the results!! Glad you made it home safely and see you at Taunton and Kingston (Home of the 25SSH Class!!) Executive order recently passed by the Kingston, NH Race Director, all Region 6 Drivers are exempt from entry fee's!

Thanks to Steve Noury, the Yacht Club, the SSOA club and everyone else that made the trip down to make this inigrual event such a success.
I thoroughly enjoyed it and appreciate all the hard work that went into it.

Awards Ceremony

In the second picture of the awards ceremony, the gentlemen on the left receiving the plaque is Dave Goodwin. Dave literally put in over a hundred hours on behalf of the Crescent Yacht Club to make this happen. (50% of those hours probably went towards securing the Coast Guard permit).

I encourage all of the South Shore Outboard membership and those of you that attended this great event to express your debt of gratitude to the Crescent Yacht Club and Dave in particular, by sending a note to CYC, 30 Ferry Street, Bradford, Ma. 01835.

Congratulations to all the racers, family and friends that came to the “Haverhill River Run”. You all put on a great show for the race fans. The members of the Crescent Yacht Club did a lot of work to make the race facility ready. Moorings and buoys were moved, tons of brush was cleared to make room, trailers and boats were moved, food prep and cooking, parking details and so much more. It was a great time!!!!! All the Crescent Yacht Club Members keep saying “just wait until next year!!” Spectators on both sides of the river loved the races and thought the marathon was great! Racer Giles.......................

Racer Giles at 70 plus years old still looks like he does it all. Referee's and sets up the equipment. Plus still not a hair out of place! Looks it was a great weekend. We were 700 miles South racing in Wilson, NC.

The trophies and podium ceremony looks cool...............makes me miss the old days in New England!
