        My Haverhill adventure!!

Okay all, I was finally able to pull myself away from D/D iced coffees, Clam Box chowder and Billy Allens cooking and am back in 'chilly' Michigan, seated in front of my computer:
WOW! SSOA and Region 1...You ROCK! All of you! Steve Noury, you put on one heck of a race and I am happy that you are surrounded by such a great bunch of people. Referee, scoring, announcing, inspecting and others, a great bunch indeed.
CYC: Dave Goodwin and company. Thanks so much for all your hard work in putting on this great race. As a Top'O racer and active club member, I can appreciate the hard work, especially obtaining permits. It takes a lot of effort and I want to let you know that it is appreciated.
How nice it was to see the Brewsters there as well. Marathon for Jeff next year?
Adding a marathon to the schedule was a great idea. When I finished and pulled into the pits as I was pulling my helmet I can remember thinking to myself, "What's all that ruckus." Well...it was a ton of people cheering, that's what it was. Way cool. I even had a local man, a fireman from Haverhill come over to my pit area and thank me for coming all the way from Michigan and for giving it my best in the marathon. He requested additional marathons for next year....Yea baby!
I very much enjoyed the short course racing, and my weekend was a busy one as I helped get 'my' hydro out in 20ss and OSY! Of course, I have a driver who could win on a coffee table! I am hoping to get a short course boat together for next year so I can get in on even more of the fun.
While on my way home, I had a few calls from region 6 racers asking me of my experience. Believe me, they heard about it. I tried to bring a crew this year and I will try harder to actually get them out to Haverhill next year.
To my new marathon friends, it was a pleasure to meet and race with you. Hey...lets make it a plan for next year...we'll all work on beach starts and running for at least twenty minutes.... I'm thinking at least 25 boats! We'll have the fan's 'comin' outa their skins'.
Anyone who missed it...well, let's just say you missed a lot!

Mark, work shop gets pretty crowed in the winter with the two cars in there. Didn't ride the bike too much this year. CRAPPY WEATHER. LOOK FORWARD TO SEEING YOU NEXT YEAR. BILL

Mark, for the benefit of those of us who were not there I for one would love to hear more about the course it self and how it might compare to any portion of Top O. I think if others heard from the voice of experience they might be enticed to make the race next year.

                Thx,

                Sam

                  Top'o/Haverhill

Sam, kinda reminded me of the larger portions of the Cheboygan River. I'll tell you all about it at Big Rapids. The bridges made it fun, the absolutely insane crowd made it a lot of fun. Fun fun fun...You're going. KampKurz
