Does you club give refunds at your race if there is bad weather?
If so how do you pay for the throphies, music, pa, ambulance, insurance, sanction, fuel, towing, shirts, port-a-poties, etc...? All the bills you have regardless if the race goes or not. Do you pad the entry fee and then hope for a few good races before a bad one?
If you don't refund, do you put it on the sanction or is it understood? Up here we still give refunds and it cripples the club each time.
Our races are race entry fee funded. We're too small to a group (volunteer wise) to go after real sponsors. So when a race is rained out we take a huge hit and pray many people don't ask for a refund or only a portion.
Also if there is poorish weather it's a constant argument as to whether we should start racing or not... cuz if a boat goes on the water we're on the hook for all the insurance money. If there was no refunds we could fit in any racing we could instead of delaying to see if things are going to get better or worse.
