  • 102 vs 302?

What's the difference, which is best and why??????

302 has won CSH at Nationals the past two years in a row. Also, this is the current production motor offered. The 102 is hard to find coils for, and I'm not sure what else. I've heard the 102 gives a little more in the top end. However, I think our 302's here in region 10 have made a pretty good showing against any 102. It would be my recommendation for a 302 over a 102. Also, you have the plus of not having to mess with the points and the timing of the 302. Once its set you don't have to deal with it again.

I would tend to agree with Sean. As noted in this thread (post 22), there were several 302s in the CSH finals in addition to the winner. http://www.hydroracer.net/forums/sho...d=13884&page=2

Restricted 302s were 3rd and 4th in 20ss as well, and a 302 won OSY400 at Depue (with a few in the final there as well).

If you're in an area where there are a lot of 102s around, advice on setting timing, and someone with parts who can work on it, that would be a consideration. Also, the 102 still seems to be the strong motor in CSR.

I think there is enough parity now that there isn't really a definitive answer one way or the other. I wish other multi-engine classes were where CSH is now.

        102 v 302

I'll be on the market for a C motor this winter. As for me- I will only buy a 302. Slightly shorter tower, No points, and readily available.
You know me... I just wanna stick the motor on and race.
