The races for fun are the BEST ones! And there is nothing wrong with grass roots racing. Luckily AOF still has affordable insurance (thank goodness) to allow for such week ends. (I know, there she goes again some will say). Hey, I'm not even associated with AOF anymore but it is the truth. So why not just enjoy yourselves. With the price of gas these days, staying close to home to race, a few beers and yummy cajun cooking on race site sounds like heaven to me. If Brian had known this a little sooner we would be there, that is for sure. If for nothing else but to test on the best race site in the World IMHO. But since it is 999 miles from our door we couldn't make it in time anyway. Have a good time, we miss you all.
And don't forget, AOF has a very liberal step up chart, so step up those slower mods and even a stockor two. Make Bill and Dave dish out the money!!!

Hey guys, we had a fun weekend. Had to run the full 2 day schedule (Racing/Record runs) today since they are planing on using the lake area as a stage area for the hurricane approaching. The winners are as followed.

          A Hydro = John Mathews
          B1 Runabout = John Mathews
D Hydro = Mark Mathews (My Dad!!! His first race, and he suprized us all!!!)
          B1 Hydro = John Mathews

As far as records go. I know that I (John Mathews) set a 80 Mod. Hydro record, but im not sure about the rest. I know Paul Guadagnoli came out and set a new 25xs Hydro record. Shane Hebert set a Super E Hydro record. And Tony Staron set a few as well. "Preacher Man" Billy Kropog set a B1 Runabout Record. And Jason Sumrall set a new E Hydro Record. Im sure someone will get on after everybody gets a chance to get home and let us know more. It was quite a fun few days. It was nice seeing everyone. Later guys.

We had a great time today. We made it home safe and sound. We even made it home in RECORD time. There was no traffic going south.

Glad to see you guys made it back alright. I was worried whether or not you guys were going to beat the counter flow. I hope the rest that were heading back south made it ok. We are getting everything ready a strapped down for this storm. The papers this morning said we may even get 110mph winds. I hope thats wrong.

I hope that's wrong too. You're far enough north that the chances of 110mph sustained winds getting to you aren't all that great. Batten down the hatches just in case though.

The last hurricane to make it through here was Rita and by the time it made it up here the winds were down in the 40mph to 50mph range. (Katrina was so far east of here that all we got were some clouds.) The projected path for Gustav has it coming through here too. Hopefully it will be very weak by the time it gets this far north.
