    Destruction Derby

We had a field of 10 or 11 CSR to start............4 restarts and 2 transports later (everyone ok), i think a grand total of 2 finished the race

Like Shawn said.......2004 Sunday's CSR race. First set of the day took 3 1/2 hours due to three red flags in the first heat!! Throw another red flag in for 25MH and the first flight that started at 11AM finished at 2:30PM. I was in the patrol boat and kept looking at the clock on one of the steeples in town thinking, I wasn't going to get home by Wednesday at this rate. There were eleven starters and two boats finished. I recall hearing Shanon call over the radio to the pits "Are there any ambulances left over there?"

Funniest memory from 1985... Ben & Howie Nichols sneaking out of their tent to head over to a well after hours party at the Fallon. They were smerking all the next day at how cool they were until..... A picture of the room party surfaced two weeks later and they were busted as they were all smiles in the picture. Donna beached them for the Mays Landing race and they were relegated to pit crew for that weekend.

Howie, you should make the trip up just for memory sake.

Not the best memory but one I will never forget was my first race at Lock Haven a few years ago blowing past the first turn on my way to the Dam when I realized I was looking at the wrong buoys. Well, I managed to recover and catch all the real attentive racers. I don't think Bob Saxvic will ever let me forget that run. Old age is not all it is cracked up to be! Looking forward to seeing everyone this weekend. Jack

I have many fond memories of Lock Haven - most of them are a big blur!
The best was my first year there. Dad, Jody Bentz, Chuck Bentz and myself drove all night. Then Jody and I both won - J and A.

Lock Haven is a blast but we haven't been since we became parents. It's not quite the same with kids!

                    Best Lock Haven Memories

                    1. Racing at Lock Haven in 2004 for the first time in 28 years and realizing that the best part of the sport – racers helping racers – hadn’t changed over the decades when a dozen racers helped get me on the water.

                    2. Surviving the 2004 CSR Demolition Derby! I kept thinking, “this is CRAZY!” I was so tired I didn’t even bother to go out for one restart. It didn’t matter -- that heat was red flagged anyway.

                    3. 2005 - Sitting in the pits at night, frosty beverage in hand, watching the glimmering reflection of the lights from across the river, listening to the echoed sounds of the carnival coming from the right, and of wild birds coming from the darkness on the left.

                    4. 2007 - Watching my new J driver in his first weekend of racing pass another boat on the outside in turn one, and once clear, pulling to the inside lane going down the straightaway.

                    5. 2007- Having both of my boat racing sons give me a thumbs-up when I came into the pits after leading a heat in CSH and then both of them reminding me not to do anything stupid because I was the only one who could drive them home.
