Another way...Build yourself a box, 1" deep, the width of your cockpit and 2' long. Then get a 94lb bag or Redi Crete. Wet the crete with a #3-4 slump, (that means somewhat dry but hydrated well) so you can spread it out. Then get the bathroom scale and start spreading mud. watch the number rise until you got what you need. Get a hunk of 1/4" plywood and cover the box when you get the weight you need.

For farmer style small amounts, get a bicycle inner tube and some 3/4" rock or sand. Cut the tube in 12" lengths and tie off one end. When you hit 1-2lbs, each increment will depend on what you need) tie off the other end.

Other than that, see if you can find a good lod service station. The kind with real mechanics and maybe even an owner on site. Tell them what you're up to and I'm sure they can grab some weights for you.

It's very Polish, but it works if you can't find lead.

One last thing...Do you launch wet? Cause every time we have weighed right to the money, if we launch wet, KT's cut suit and shoes will hold about 5 lbs of water, cause we are 5 lbs over like clock work every time....

      Lead

Karl, A boating supply store may have downrigger balls for fishing. You would have to melt them down into a more usable shape though. Lead melts at a very low temp. I've made molds out of plywood that worked fine. Lead shot at the gun store put into motorcycle innertubes works great also.

Another option is the training weights that you can get at the sports stores. 5lb ,10lb, 15lb, and they may have 20lb but I didn't look. Some have solid bars you can remove to adjust what your adding in a specific spot. Some are loaded with shot and are not adjustable.
Loaned one to Davey at the winter nats he just straped it to his boat and off he went.
