Bill Rucker was the driver. Won several National Championships with this boat. Tom Goldstone the owner had three different engines, one for each class. 500, 700 & 1100 hydro. One year they took a 1st, 2nd, and a 3rd at the Nationals. It was a front runner in its day. I am shure there are picturesthe the US Title Series has of the boat in action. If I can find one I will post it. On the back cowl was written BOHICA. I know what it stands for but many do not......Bob N-96

jason, i looked at your boat. very cool. but its a tank campaird to todays
boats. one good think about this.
its a good boat to learn on. get in the water and get some seat time.
come to the races and talk to the guys.
a laydown hydro is such a rush. i race 850cc hydro [feh] it will only take one time driving it. and you'll be hooked i was.

Once again thanks for the information, David I did post on Michelle's thread and hope to hear from her soon. Bob, do you know if Bill is still involved in racing and or posts to any of these boards? Also, do you think that this is a boat built by Tom or purchased? If so, do you know who could have possibly built it? Thanks

Bill Rucker is still involved in racing. He is in the OPC category. He races the sst 120 class. He does not post on any of the websites. He races most of the Champboat Series races. He helps out some of the guys in the Champ class also. Go to those races and you can find him. Scott

Bill Rucker
When we first started last year, we had a very difficult to handle boat that Bills daughter Kim drove pretty successfully. I got Bills number from one of his kids on this site, and Bill was more than willing to share and give us tips on how he would have best set the boat up for what we were attempting to do. So, I'll simply say, that if you have any questions, if it OK for you to talk to him, I'm betting he would be more than willing to share anything he can to help you out if can hook up with him.

Please do not make the same mistake we made.

James,
thanks for the info. Are you still living in Holland? I lived outside of Amsterdam for 10 years. The last 5 in Waverveen. It is a town right on the Amstel river about 20km outside of Amsterdam. Years ago, when I was 10 years old I found a old hydro laying in the grass that I bought for 7 guilders! My neighbors thought I was crazy as I pulled it behind my bike over the 3 car ferry that serviced the town. Then in the spring, after my father had rebuild it everyone wanted one; we actually made a fiberglass mold of it for one of the guys down the street.. We put a 15hp yamaha on it and was pushing 40 mph. Still have it today, up in New York. My 6 year old son can't wait to get in it.
