    The lever you speak of on the side of the carb is the choke. They are rarely used. Some of the Yamatos you will see they have been removed.

    As far as the steering goes, Yes it should be on the stiff side. When you're racing and you have to reposition your hand you don't want the torque of the motor to take over as you let go to reposition your hand. Otherwise, you might end up in the water. As said before, bring it up with one of the guys you meet and have them check it over for you. They will want you to have a good experience and be glad to help you out

      He wrote he will run AOF. Have they put in a heigh rule too? Assuring his motor pumping properly is more important in AOF if they don't have the 3/4 rule and can jack up high.
