Thank you Steve Dunn, Janet, Ian etc.etc. We had a rough day on Saturday with the weather but we put on a show and all were safe. The folks from Tabor City were very excited to have us and have said they want us back.

Maybe we can make this our new Camden. All had a good time and a special thankes to Stacy " the microphone " Runne as she called almost the whole day of racing on Sunday.

Thanks!! She did a great job and only became "Rebecca" once....ask Gary Pond what that means

Big Thanks to Ian the Referee, Janet the Chief Scorer, Dave Brill the Inspector, Steve Dunn the race chair, Lisa the Pit Boss, Bill Huson, Dave Howard, John & Ryan Runne who seemed to always be in the patrol boats and sorry to those not named, everyone did a great job pulling the event off!!

Kudos to Jimmy Warren for having the guts to do the National Anthem Sat and having enough more for attempt 2 on Sunday!!!

            Great site and people

I'd like to give a big thanks and congrats to Becky and Howie. I had to leave on Saturday to handle some family issues. The race at Tabor was first class all the way. The racers and the community all pitched in to make a very good race it will definitely be on my list of races for the Years to come. the owners were very supportive they have put in allot of hard work to make a very fine site for racing, and have plans to make it better. We as racers need to commit to having a better boat count. It should be a great place for the nortern and southern drivers to meet to renew old friendships and make new ones. Sorry for you that missed this one juust don't make the same mistake again write it in on your calendar. It could really grow if we work at it. thank you everyone for all the help and support. I'LL BE BACK

Thank You Valerie D'Agostino and Steve Dunn

Another very notable thank you goes to Valeria D'Agostino for single-handedly conducting the most successful CVRA 50/50 Raffle to date. We started the 50/50 raffle last year to help recoup the funds spent on the new equipment trailer.

Valeria sold $586 worth of raffle tickets at Tabor City and Tom Burwinkle, a new 20 ssH driver from Kingston, TN, won $293. Awesome job Val!

Barring any expenses I'm not aware of (Steve Dunn - call me ASAP if there are any expenses I don't know about), Tabor City was a financially successful event for CVRA! Great job finding this race site Steve!

There were 34 drivers at Tabor City - 50 entries on Saturday, 49 entries on Sunday. I will post final results in a day or so.

              Janet

I forgot to mention earlier the night from hell. Steve Sawyer did a very nice thing and reserved some camping cabins. They slept about 8 people.

One very small room had 4 bunk beds and the back room had a queen bed. In the front was a fold out sofa. I took the sofa with my 9 year old but it was too short for me so luckily I had an air mattress which I just put on the floor next to the sofa.

We all piled into the cabin. Not long after lights out, the walls of the cabin began to shake. One of the fellows in the cabin, Charles, starting snoring. I don't mean a little. About 2 or 3 in the morning I hear a very large bang on the wall. It was Bob Dunlap smaking the wall above Charles' head. He quit snoring and about 2 minutes later, he started in again.

Well, I had it and pulled my air mattress on the front porch. A while later a half crazed Bob comes on the porch too with the matress from his bunk. My 9 year old was driven out and he crawled into my sleeping bag with me.

That morning the Georgia gang was pretty irratable and the legend of Charles
" Grizzly" was born. Needless to say he was banished forever and spent the next night in a van.

                      North American Championships

Eric Vanover won DMH with a clean sweep both days, and sad to say we didn't have enought boats to run DMR:
