  • Having trouble viewing content on HydroRacer.Net ?

The two biggest stumbling blocks for PC users trying to view media content rich web pages from Mac users...

    1. Out of date QuickTime player and therefore inability to view H.264 encoded material.

    QuickTime 7 Free Download

    2. Out of date non-standards compliant browser called Internet Explorer.... I encourage everyone to get FireFox and dump IE it's not worth the trouble.

    Download Firefox

    Ahem....three biggest stumbling blocks...

    3. Out of date OS called Windows what a joke! make the switch to Mac ASAP!

    Where to buy a Mac

Dan I have had trouble with the Mac version of Firefox becoming too clunky and a memory hog ... apparently too much autocorrect, etc ... trying to be all things to all people, sort of like Microsoft

Firefox was good once upon a time, but now it is mediocre or poor. Safari is easier on my computer's memory, but can't correctly display some really poorly written code.

All good points Sam, I also understand that everyone does not have a super fast PC or Mac machine but at some point those folks are going to be left behind. I wanted to convert HR to an all Flash site last year but held off because of all the low end PC user that would not be able to access the site.

Fast forward to 2007 and all I have to say is you better start saving your money now to buy that new Intel Mac because I plan to convert this puppy over to all Flash in 2007 and it wont be user friendly for low end PC users or dial up users.

I hate flash and I'm running a pretty good Mac on pretty high speed cable. Leeann's Mac upstairs is way beyond what anyone needs for web browsing .... flash ain't no better on it ... I predict flash is going to be just that, a flash. It will be replaced by something easier on the eye and easier to load.

            I'll be left out . . .

I use a computer until it gets so quirky I spend more time cussing it than I do using it, or it goes *BZZZZT* and spews a lotta stinky smoke. I will not buy an intel/mac for the singular purpose of viewing hydroracer.net.

Over 2100 members on HR so I suggest you two start a petition or it will be you two vs. me and the other 2100 members going over to Flash in 2007

                Minor problem

I don't know what "Flash" is, or why one would need "Flash" to do anything that we can't do on this site or other sites now.

Dan, I'm with Bill on this one. Just because we don't have the fastest or newest technology, I don't want to not be able to get on hydroracer.

^and that's what I was going to ask..what is it anyway? And why would it be better for the site if less people can view it?

Ok Bill for all you old timers out there Adobe Flash is nothing new, it’s been around for years. Currently HR Net is what’s called a static HTML web site no bells or whistles nothing fancy just your standard old boring stand still text and a few photos scattered about the front page. Once I move the site to a Flash platform it wont be as bad as you think most people will just skip the intro page and go directly to the forums by clicking a drop down link. Everything you see on the front page now will be Flash content i.e. latest news etc. most of the banners will be dropped and all the other cluter will be gone also.

With most Flash sites you have the option to skip the intro so don’t panic you will find the forums pretty easy once you navigate your way past the front page.

Example of a Flash web site

                    Adobe Flash

Ryan and Allie I am surprised that you two dont know what Flash is, you guys are generation wild thang! you guys need to stop hanging around your dad he is old school like Bill H. Just kidding you both know I like and respect your dad all though he is getting close to AARP age

I just want my computer, which I got in 2000, AND still had dial-up to be able to handle it.
Sometimes it sounds like it might explode!

p.s. Since Hydroracer, my dad has improved is computer skills..A LOT.
For example: it no longer takes him 5 hours to type a post
                      THANKS DAN!

                          Oh, that Flash . . .

Got Adobe, got flash, gotta buncha other crap that clutters up the hard drive. It must cue up automatically `cause I can't recall ever doing a clicker thing to use flash.

Come to a race now and again and you'd run into Gina. She was at Sharptown.

True, no pics, but you can link to pics and other webpages. No graphics either. Words, just words. No registration! No email kickback. You can be a mystery poster! Coolest discussion board ever! NO CENSORSHIP! Tis WIDE-FREAKING-OPEN! phlogredux could use a few repub bulletheads. The balance shifted *blue* ever since a very articulate republican (is that an oxymoron?) bullethead felt "threatened" by an unarmed but ticced off drunk who was somewhat larger than he was and he pulled out out his Desert Eagle Phallic symbol and capped the drunks butt. Yep, killed him deader than Bush's brain. Sad, but I guess the fine state of TexASS doesn't allow it's guests net access.

Yeah, she showed up at Sharptown for about a half of a day. She's doing really well, glad to see everyone at the race. I have her number if you want it?
