I guess it should be said that this has nothing to do with property being sold or trading hands.

It has to do with a boat racer who was contracted to do a job (outside of boat racing/nothing to do with boat racing) took the money and did NOT perform the job for which he had been hired.

He has refused to return the money, it is now too late to perform the job that he was hired for that matter has been settled. He owes the damaged party a refund of moneys he accepted but won't return calls or emails.

Welcome to hydroracer, we hope you enjoy your visit.

        Keep It Positive

Dealing with the public everyday, we try hard to do what is right. Sometimes, we fail. Repairing propellers is usually an easy job. Most people are happy they don't have to buy a new one. Sometimes, especially with tournament boats, repaired props vibrate. It could be they got cut down some, they might not be perfect anymore. About twice every summer we just refund the price of the repair.

But my "LUCK" with selling race motors, during the MOD VP days was crazy. I could run two boats at Havasu, four hours and Parker, 7 hours and not have an engine failure.

I would jet, time and break in motors I'd sell. Some guys could not get through the weekend without blowing one up. I'd find yellow (LOW LEAD) gas in the carbs. I'd say, I told you to run leaded AV gas, yellow gas is low lead. Well, we ran low on gas and just bought some to go across the lake, would be the answer. Really??? Only went across Lake Havasu with low lead???? Other would blow their motor up and I'd say, "Why is the timing set here??" There answer would be, "Well it went faster set there." Yes, til it blew up.

When my youngest son started racing, he managed to put the generator gas in his 45. Then, the next powerhead he blew on the launch ramp.....Chad raced 45 for five years and broke one crank, Broc ran for one year and I lost track of the carnage he caused.

I sold a 300XS to Greg Foster, two years ago. He extended the warrantee til May of 2013.....He raced this motor for two years under warrantee.

Not all deals work out as planned....I don't think forums is where you should try to work out problems.

I had a friend come to the Parker 336 last October, from Minnesota.. I told him my motor was
Smoking good". it was for 2 1/2 miles. I had run it in salt water, and the bottom main has rusted. Had I sold this motor, I would have figured the new owner did something wrong. When I still owned it, I said, "Hmm, what did I do wrong??"

Of course, in the race, we ran a new powerhead. I said, 10 gallon race gas, 20 gallon of pump. Last stop everyone says we only need 20 gallons. As Chad leaves the pits, I say, "Why do we still have 10 gallons of race gas??" Chad make two 12 mile laps and burns a piston. We ran Parker, blew two powerheads, twisted one drive shaft off, broke on boat. We set top time for the COR class......Had I not been paying the bills and helping with the work, I could have been made at someone.

Three years ago, the Cal Poly Pomona Solar Race team came to my shop to buy a propeller for their race boat. They didn't know the rotation, they didn't know anything except they wanted ONE prop, the right one. Their propshaft was 9" below the bottom......Are you getting my drift. I told them I would not sell them anything, but I would loan them some props....There was a lot of room here for misunderstandings. Three years later, Ernie Dawe is building them a boat and we are heading for Dayton, in June, to the College World Series of Solar Boat Racing....Great kids, these college students, but they have never driven a boat, never seen a race, but they have computers...They are learning that Google doesn't know much about boat racing.

              well said

Very well said Ron. I think there is a big difference between selling something in good faith or whatever and selling something that you know is junk. Or somebody telling you they would pay for something they got from you and promised to pay for. There are no promises or guarentees on race equipment when u sell it....there is a reason why you are selling it. But that being said...I can't think of very many people in APBA that would screw somebody over on purpose. It does come back to haunt you....Dave

They have raised the limit on small claims to $15000.00 which will cost around $250.00take this person there and if you have anything like paper work or some sort of proof you may be able to put a lein on his property. Leins work.

                      People

My first year of racing I chewed a prop up in C stock hydro and gave it to a local prop guy to fix....$25.00....and I never paid him. To this day (he is gone now) it has bothered me, and I told myself that I would never purposely screw over another racer for any reason. It's funny, or maybe ironic, that what goes around comes around. I suppose its just me, but I could not show my face at a race knowing I did not do right with a fellow racer...and if for whatever reason I did mess up, I sure would take the time to make things right. I honestly trust 99.9% of racers in APBA......

Gardner, you are exactly correct. Problem is, it's a **** shame that you even need to say that, or remind anyone to do so..... I really just don't understand some people. I mean, everyone goes through some rough times. But I does not cost a dime to say "I was wrong" or at least offer to make something right. Teresa, will you please delete this thread. I made my point to this jack wad. I'm sure we will "meet" up again. Personally, I can't wait, should have taken care of business when I had the chance a couple years ago at a race. Now I have an excuse. Bryan

you are just echoing what a lot of us feel. don't delete the post yet. I think it's good for us to talk about this kind of stuff. If what happened bothers you as a racer it bothers me to a point. We are all a big family in the end....
