And at the end of the day we may even fianlly find out what it really did cost for all this NEW TECHNOLGY and great SOCIAL MEDIA love fest only to find that it created no ROI and if we are lucky enough someone will take a digital picture of the doors being locked for the last time at the APBA office! I hear the song playing on my 8 track player---- " those were the good old day's"

    Enjoy the ride!
    This actually made me laugh.

I have never hidden behind my” line charactor”, pretty sure anyone that cares to know, knows who I am. Funny you saying hiding, but you sure knew who I was when you made comments a few months ago. Yea, the phone was so much cheaper in the 70’s. Seems to me when Don Sr. was volunteering for this sport his phone bills were in the hundreds every month in the 70’s. My internet bill is maybe around 30.00 a month. Yep, a lot cheaper back then.

You really are an angry person aren’t you?

So Howard, if APBA posted what the actual cost was, would it shut you up? If it was 200,000/250,000/300,000would it really matter to you? Rhetorical question, because I know it wouldn’t. You’re going to complain no matter what it is.

To wit, I quote from your post entitled, "APBA members it is time to get answers!!"

"As a long time member, boat owner, driver, volunteer, and official I not only support Mr. Giles inquiry (about the propeller magazine) and comments but ask you to review items that concern not only me but many APBA members that I have spoken with over the past year."

Mr. Giles said, "What has happened to my boat racing Propeller? Where is Tana Moore? I am most disappointed in the last issue of the APBA Propeller. Since APBA has gone to electronics, I have not been able to "see" it on the computer. IT is impossible to open. I have much greater success using HydroRacer to stay informed. Tell me again, what am I getting for a $200 membership?"

It appears the first fact is that Mr. Giles is upset about not receiving his printed Propeller magazine. The second fact is that you "...support Mr. Giles inquiry (about the propeller magazine) and comments..." Ergo, one can only surmise that you too are upset about not receiving the printed copy of Propeller. Then there is also the fact that you complain when you receive multiple copies!

But facts aren't important to me. Right!

You can read in another post the actual cost of printing and distributing the printed Propeller magazine. But just for fun, even if it cost $10 each to produce and deliver to your door, you would provide a whopping savings of $30 to APBA quarterly; $120 annually. Wow. You just might "save" the organization with this cutting-edge idea after all!
Hey Howard, speaking of magazines. I’ve been going through my collection of old propeller magazines that go back to the late 50’s… tell me again what years you held any National officer position. And I’m not referring to your club or region…I want to go back and read those years and see what your ideas were back then when you held a position in the APBA office.

Oh an I want the three that come to our house. Mine is mine and I don't want my wife cutting it up for scrap books.

        Apba

As with most businesses when revenue shrinks services suffer. APBA is a business that only has about $900,000.00 worth of income yearly with 3,800
members and I think 9 employees, they are very top heavy. It is amazing they are still here.

Trust me I personally have not set my expectations to high. This is going to be a slow process to try and get what most of APBA hope to accomplish and get done.

I agree with Dan L... we may be just what we are and not ever get back to the hay days of 1970 and earlier. It takes a special person to want to do this. But with the success that Michigan and Washington are having getting new people in boats…I have hope.

Pat, not arguing with you. Just asking the question and making a comment, not sure on the 9, but let’s say it is because I honestly don’t know what it is and you are probably correct. Wouldn’t that number be what it is, because of what we all want and expect from our home office to provide us?

Just trying to help people understand that we all want our office to provide us with fast/up to date information, calculate high points for something like 100 different classes, Provide sanction & insurance for over 150 different races (over 300 days of racing), provide us with rules and keep track of all of it, news/information, a magazine, and on and on and on….

I seem to recall part of the Crowne proposal was to make us more efficient so we could eliminate some of the work and have it be streamlined? This could possibly result in less head count, which would certainly help the ROI.

About 1982 I was at a seminar that was run buy Zig Ziglier and I think you would know who this was, He pointed out that the best advertizing is the one that works. Here is the million dollar question what is the best bang for the buck (god all these old sayings, showing my age now)
He also told a upper level marketing org. Take this blank check and fill it in after it works.

Another top level marketer around the same time when I asked what is best way to market and I mentioned several avenues told me to use all of the above.

I think Dan,Linda,Sabrina,Cindy,Ryan,Joe,Jamie,Racquel,Abe are all paid employee,s as seen on the lists 2nd page of the Propeller. Maybe???
If this is so no matter how you cut it $900,000.00 of income it amazes me how APBA survives. I know you are from Wisconsin and this is an area much like NEW York were many many people think the industry they work in is what the business is about but in truth employee,s are the by product of a successful business.

Major problem with APBA and this great USA.

You know as I read your post I can't help but key in on what you say about what we all want and need from the home office--then I realize this is just what Scott Walker is talking about there is not enough money to pay for what we all want---wow politics sure is simple (sorry Dan)

Pat, The company I work for truly believes in their people and know that they are what makes us successful. When I hire, I try to hire people that will make my job easier. I know full well the reason I’m successful in my job is the great people I have working for me/us. I have 35 direct reports and I seldom have issues that I have to address because we have weeded the weak and ones with attitude out.

I’m not going to discredit anyone at APBA for the job they do, if they are not performing then it’s all our faults. I say that because we should be putting pressure on our BOD to do something about it. They could be innocent products of the system. Meaning if we have not given them the tools to do their job, than shame on us. Now, if you call the office and if you get attitude, then that is a different story.

I’ll tell all of you this, I called Mark Wheeler yesterday and voiced my displeasure on an issues. Mark said to me, let me look into it, I truly believe he will. This was also right in the middle of the day and Mark answered. Probably because he was not in class but he took the call and he had no clue who was calling. Now should I have called Dan at the home office?? Maybe, but I called Mark because he’s our leader and have learned from past experiences with him that he takes this all personally.

I really don't feel I am complaining I like many others would just like to know where our money is going and feel that we as members have the right to know the true and factual accounting of the APBA budget. Just think if we could get a real accounting of the 6 itmes I asked for months ago I could have saved allot of typing and reading of your post!
Don't worry the real accounting facts will not be provided under the current APBA leaders, but in time it will be known and only then can this subject be put to rest!
