I use the FCS fin plugs that come with the "Surf Hero", as I use the go pro on my surfboards as well as my boat. I made some mounts( to fit the fin plugs into) out of wood and screwed them to the boat with some small fasteners. I have one on the left side sponson tip, one on the dash, and one that mounts to the transom in front of the engine. The two up front can look back or forward which ever I choose.
I have had some vibration issues under certain racing conditions, but that's to be expected.

In the photo you can plainly see the go pro on the left sponson. You can also see the transom mount in the picture as well.

Here's a video of the set up in the photo

      GoPro positioning

Front left sponson catches a good show, if close racing, where others trying to take inside track on straights/corners: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tsvcG5pF1RI

Depending on your editing abilities, try to edit out waiting for green flag at beach, 3min green/white flag milling, provide a descriptive, and add music.

Any 14yr old kid can do this for you. Actual racing is <3min.

PS: hit a buoy 3 wks later, despite having a tether on it GoPro is at bottom of lake filming fish,...UGHH!
Stock Outboard Racing!....because other sports,....golf, football, baseball, etc....only require one Ball!

I mounted one inside my canopy at Depue and the view was very cool. I will post those videos once I get them downloaded onto my computer.

I have one from Contour. It's the GPS model. http://contour.com/products/contour-gps It has some cool features that others don't. I hope to have the camera on Sam LaBancos SST-60 boat at the OPC Nationals.

Mark, have you used the contour yet. I just looked at the website and thought it would be cool to see your speed while watching the video.

We haven't used it on a boat yet. I'm putting Sam LaBancos son it charge of the video taping since he is our computer expert. I have most all of the mounts they sell and we do plan on doing some unique mounting positions. Some positions may not get the the GPS signal but we'll try. Since this camera can be mounted on it's side and the lens turned it can bring new possibilities for mounting in new spots.

This is the software that puts the gauges on the screen and works with the Contour GPS. http://www.dashware.net/
