Yeah, I think his death is justified, and Mark, I appreciate your review of my context in a sort of reality check- you're completely right and I stand corrected on that. I am proud that the US military did finally complete their mission, but at what expense? I mean ****, what we do in the name of freedom sometimes makes me wonder if the ends justify the means. Lets not forget what the war on terror cost us: tens of thousands of US troops, hundreds of billions of dollars, the innocent lives of many women and children (who would have probably given their lives for our help, but that's another argument) and the distrust of millions of Americans who couldn't even tell you why we are over there. Oh wait, he's dead now, so its over, right? WRONG!
There will always be a bad guy, a terrible guy if you will. But the way people deal with that helps define us as human beings. Its hard to put into words all of the thoughts and emotions I think and feel about war, terrorism, destruction, and the disembodiment of what it means to be human. But I think that the bottom line is, we need to speak up, stop fighting, and start worrying about the preserving human life as we know it. Cause in case y'all haven't noticed, there's 7 billion of us and not everyone is being taken care of in terms of basic needs and oh yeah, our fresh water (not to mention energy supply...) is going away rapidly.
I'll stop and go do my homework like I should.28-R

Its about terrorists vs. the government that empowered him in the first place. Another example of why I think we get too excited over killing one oppressive and evil man. Thanks for illustrating my point, Jeff.Team Tower

But, instead of having a military fighting force that is used to eliminate threats to our security, we have turned them into politicians... instead of defining the enemy and focusing on dispatching him quickly and with overwhelming and extreme prejudice, and being done with it, our "Brain Trust" believes that success is measured by "Winning the hearts and minds" of the enemy, instead of putting bullets thru the hearts and minds of the enemy... and so, we spend billions building roads, and schools, and hospitals where none existed before, and we stick our fighting men out there year after year, to run over IEDs and get blown apart, and picked off one by one... by snipers shooting at them from behind the safety of churches, and school children.
Our enemys say that "America has no stomach for war".
It's not that Americans have no stomach for war, its that we have no stomach for watching our guys get picked off while they are told how not to fight....Insane.
If we won't turn our dogs of war loose, then maybe that's a signal that we shouldn't be there in the first place.

Media
While I am an old testament kind of guy (eye for an eye - tooth for a tooth) I feel those that can't handle the truth shouldn't watch the media. You are in the U.S.. You have a right to your opinion, but no more so than mine. And they are both equally as important, and useless.
I will say this, if we had not reacted to the attack on our soil where would we be today ? We would be the third world country instead of a world power. This country's history is deeply steeped in war and defending our heritage. If you don't like it, move some place else that better suits your beliefs. That is my opinion. And that is not directed at anyone in particular.
What we have today verses all wars prior to Desert Storm is the dam media following soldiers around and documenting how they do it. The media is like a pack of hungry wolves hunting any minor incident and turning it into a feeding frenzy. Society today demands facts at the fingertips. Guess what. If you want this country to continue being a first world power the media needs to let up and let things happen. The public does not need to see any photos. The Muslims don't need to see any photos. The Russians don't need to see any photos. The very fact people want to see it proves a point. Our reputation as a first world power is diminishing.
At any rate, everyone has an opinion, and an emotional reaction. We need those emotions set aside and an action taken without emotion for once.Dave Mason

solution to the picture/dna issue
here is my idea for the issue of posting a picture and the dna. all the cia or the prez needs to do is go on the maury show, they do dna tests every day to see if some dude is a child's father. you could have the doubters there and they could argue if it was bin laden's dna. then mauary will say.... 'the results are in ...... and the person that was shot WAS bin laden!'
mark my words saturday night live will have a skit on this very soon.
way to go seals. last thing to go though nbin ladens mind was an american bullet.... priceless

Well said....
Dave M, very well put! When I was deployed (I was a Cavalry Scout) the only time the media would go with us is if we were going after a high profile person, or doing some sort of raid. Never once did the media go with us to do humanitarian aid like medical clinics, food and water drops, or escorting girls to school so they wouldn’t get messed with. The media needs to stay out of war and let us do what we do best….. We also had to walk on eggs shells around them to because they seem to be quick about not telling the whole truth, and believe me, they don’t. As for the picture….I don’t know why anyone would want to see that. I get the gift of seeing dead people and gunshot victims for the rest of my life every time I close my eyes at night, and I wouldn’t wish that on anyone. When they killed Bin Laden it was real life….it’s not a game, a bullet destroys things and it is very gruesome. So the media and people need to quit asking for the picture, I know I don’t want to see it.

Navy SEALS are amazing at what they do. So proud that no American lives were lost on this mission. Go Navy!
I'm sure you are very proud of him.
Guys like your Dad are risking their lives to save others who are risking their lives for all of us and our way of life....
They are the best of the breed....
Thank the Captain for me.
