I believe 100% of the SORC voiced and felt we need to do something. What Dean failed to mention is 100% of the SORC wanted to put something on the ballot this year for the members to give their opinion if this is something they would like the SORC to work on in the next year or so.

On the second vote 100% agreed that we needed to do something but struggled with the date being attached. But it’s a “live document”, say so it can always be adjusted. Several were concerned for other Regions and how it would impact them and their members and if they would be able to survive.

Everyone talks about if this were a business we would never stand for this…blah blah blah…I 100% agree, and I know my employer would not stand for it…but the difference is you would lock yourselves in a conference room and hammer this out and put a plan together however long that takes. Not have a meeting talk about it for 45 minutes and then decide. People walked out of there saying they would do some serious testing to determine where thing need to be. Jeff Brewster volunteered to test several different things to see if there is a place for the 25. Let’s see what we can come up with this year and start moving forward. If people don’t do what they say then they are sealing their own fate.

Thanks to everyone that came to Detroit on their own nickel, both those that were on SORC and our friends in the audience.

      Don,

Besides Dean, Howie, and Nuccio with their plans -who were the "everyone" you mention and what were their proposals for properly running this business?

BTW - thanks for serving on the SORC at the last minute.

Ok, Quick response. I need to go to bed, the "real world" starts again tomorrow.

I tried to only state facts concerning the vote on Hydroracer. I believe in total transparency.

Dons points above are spot on. I felt everyone, even the NO votes, did recognize the need and welcomed the discussion. All Commissioners were very supportive and all rhetoric and discussion was constructive.

I DID NOT organize the re-vote for Sat. morning. I was very surprised that it happened. I had left Friday night to go to my sons Pinewood Derby. My understanding is after a night of reflection and discussion, and an impromptu discussion led by Jeff Brewster Sat. morning prior to the meeting a consensus felt that we did need to do something. Unfortunately, our Chair seems to worry more about Roberts rules, than getting something done right. We should of done exactly what Don said and locked ourselves in a room for a marathon review of the proposal. Instead we were forced into a limited 45 minute conversation where we did not even get the motion defined correctly.

I do not consider this any kind of personal victory. I am ambivalent and most certainly understand ANY NO vote. I do not begrudge the time or conversations spent working on this. My whole intention was to let the members decide how they want to race and what they think the Category should look like. If the ballot motion passes great, we can move towards an exciting and "new" future. If it fails we can start looking forward to a "National Series". I very strongly agree that either direction needs to be solidified soon. Indecision is hurting everyone. After this ballot, whatever the result, I will NOT push the issues again. I believe we either rip the "band-aid" off now quickly, and move on, or leave it alone.

Thanks to ALL the Commissioners that give up their time from family to attend the meeting. I respect all of your work to defend and decide what you believe is right for our hobby.

        Thanks,
        Dean Sutherland
