  • Alex Jennings Surgery

Alex had surgery today on his neck.

He went in @ 8:15 this morning and was finished around 11:30. He is currently in the Recovery room, he is doing well and the Doctors have given Lisa a promising report.

Alex had a Calcification of the bone in his spinal column which was removed successfully and they also fused approximately 6" of his spine.

He will be out of work until February 2010 so that he can recover fully.

The surgery was performed at Jefferson Hospital in Philadelphia. Alex is expected to remain in the Hospital for several days post-op then discharged to home.

I will post updates and contact information as I get them from Lisa.

Lisa does want to let everyone know she appreciates the emails and calls she has gotten so far.

Alex is still in the Recovery room waiting for a bed, there were none available to he had to stay in Recovery instead of going to a floor. This is common when the Hospital is short on beds.

So far all is well, he does have some weakness to the Left arm which he did not have prior to the surgery. The docs have stated that the ligaments are stretched in his Left shoulder and with exercise he will regain some of the strength. This is from the realignment process done to his spine.

I spoke to Alex last night and Kristen talked to him today and he seems to be in great spirits and has a positive outlook. He is already thinking of a tattoo to cover the incision site...

He did ask how many people (friends) had posted on here, and we told him he didn't have many friends so don't worry about it. It made him smile and laugh.
