We have never met you or Pat, but we will add Pat to our daily prayer list. Thank you for asking for our prayers here on HydroRacer. You got 'em! Keep us informed through this thread please, so we can "focus" those prayers...
We are getting ready to leave so I won't probably answer or have any more info for a few days, but there are computers at the hosp. library I am told so maybe I can communicate from there. Pat is recovering from her surgery quite well. Hope chemo goes as well.

We just got home from Tulsa. We met Steve and Sharon Talley. They were actually looking for us to arrive. They are wonderful people. They made us feel welcome. It is really nice to have a more personal contact when you enter a strange city, especially under these cir***stances. Anyhow, we found that Pat's cancer is so rare that one of the nicest cancer care centers that I have any knowledge of can't help her with her chemo because of the type and procedure that is required. They were able to direct us to several specialized Doctors in the U.S. Now all we have to do is to pick one. So we will be busy on the net researching and calling. Pat's energy is good and so far no serious symptoms, but her blood markers are still going up, even after her surgery. Thank you again for all your prayers and I'll keep updates coming when they happen. We need to be quickly finding a doctor.
Again if any of you ever need help with Cancer I really don't think you can find better care than any of the Cancer Care Centers of America.
Sincerely

Hi Pat and Dave, so sorry to hear of the news that Pat has cancer. You hear of it so much these days, probably due to the fast media coverage and internet access we have. We will definitely pray that any new procedure you get helps you tremendously Pat, there is so much new stuff out there. You might not remember me but I remember you at Volmer's Park in Waterville, OH on the Maumee River - TRORA race, many years ago. I believe that is the first place I met you both. You are fine people, our prayers are winging...good luck. We will keep watching the posts on Hydroracer. Be strong...Love Joan and Jack Brewster, Ravenna Twp., Ohio.
David, I'm sorry to hear of your wife's diagnosis. Thank you for keeping us informed. I will focus my prayers and thoughts to you and your wife as you work through this difficult time.

On Monday we talked with Dr. Sugarbaker's intake nurse in Washington D.C. He had reviewed all her data and CT Scans. She will have to have at least 3 to 4 months between her surgery in July and the possible surgery in D.C. for a more complete recovery. The doctor says she needs this time so that it doesn't affect her recovery from the next surgery. She is going to take a number or chemo treatments locally to keep her blood levels in check while we wait. It is a possiblity that they won't give her the surgery yet, as she might not be as advanced stage as they normally see. Maybe if her levels don't rise she could go into remission. We'll know after the first few treatments. She is physically strong and mentally upbeat with a really good positive attitude. Thank you for all your prayers and kind words of reassurance. I'll post again with more info or to answer questions.
Sincerely Thank you

Thanks for the update! We will keep our prayers focused for you; we are with you in spirit and community-at-large support. It's good to hear that she is also determined to keep positive and strong -- that is very important to assist in the power of healing, and also to her spiritual wellness.
My wife has had her first sessions of Chemo this week. The first day she was quite ill but on the second and third days they gave her more and better drugs. We went to talk with the surgeon today about putting in a port. The good thing about all this is the fact that her CA 125 blood test dropped about half of what it was. More later

I know this is a hard thing to deal with, I know, I went through it with my mom. Her cancer was different, but she still had 16 of 18 limpnodes infected! This was in 1988 and she went throught the most agresive chemo attempted at the time. This Dec 13th, we will celebrate her 78th birthday, CANCER FREE!!!!
To those who are inclined to pray: Please lift Dave and his wife up in prayer, asking for complete healing and asking as if it has already been received! God does love and honor faith! For those who may doubt, you don't have to look very far in the racing community to see that this is true!
Hello every one. Pat has her port (it went well). This week they used it for chemo. This made it a lot easier to receive. Her blood work came back another 2 points down on her CA 125 test. Half of what it was when she was in Tulsa. She has had less nausea this time due to better drugs but she is still nauseous although not vomiting. She alternates between constipation and diareah. Our grandson plays defensive end on his high school team. He is a senior and we have a lot of fun going to the games as he is pretty good at his position. He is third in the school's league for sacks. The reason I brought this up is that she has had to miss three of his games this year due to this illness. One while we were in Tulsa and two due to the sickness after chemo. I have gone to the two games and called her on the cell phone with updates on touchdowns and exciting tackles. We both really appreciate your thoughts and prayers. We really believe they help. I know they help her attitude. She is amazed that people all over the United States have prayed for her only knowing me through my hobby, especially the Talleys of Tulsa. I can't get over how nice they were to Pat and myself. On another note, we found that in our small town of Tiffin, Ohio that there is another lady that has the exact same thing as Pat. It is such a rare disease not many people even know what it is. This lady is a three year survivor of Dr. Sugarbaker's treatment. From the time she was sick it took five years to correctly diagnose her. She was told her only option was the surgery Dr. Sugarbaker does. He operated on her 3 years ago and she has returned to her teaching job. It was a miracle we found out about her quite by accident and Pat has talked to her on the phone once. Just goes to show that there really is hope. Again please keep praying and thank you
Sincerely

Pat finished her third round last week. It took almost 10 days to get over the nausea this time. She has said she doesn't want any more, can't stand the sickness. She needs to rest awhile before making any decision about going to Washington D.C. for the surgery. More bloodwork and a Cat Scan will tell us where she stands. Thank you for your prayers. So far it has been a bumpy ride.
Sincerely

Dave, RFC has your back! I will update them on this situation. Twenty-one years ago, my mom went through the most extensive chemo therapy ever attempted at the time. Her chemo doc made some adjustments in her therapy as she went through it and she only had one really bad one, after that, she did awesome, even gained weight! Forgive me if I don't spell his name right, but its Doctor Neugary in Oregon City, Or. I don't know if he would want to be consulted on this matter, but I would be more then happy to look into it for you if you wish.
Dave, keep the faith and just ask the Lord for his way in this.
Been a while since I posted any updates. Pat just had another CA125 test and it has dropped almost to normal. It was only 6 points above normal down from almost 100 points. She finally was able to have a cataract removed just before Christmas from her left eye. Chemo doc wouldn't let that happen till she was over her chemo for a while due to infection. Thanks again for all the prayers. Things are good right now. Sincerely David Everhart S52
