I always believed that the best system for gun control is a steady hand with a simple trigger.

Here is an interesting quote that I stumbled across from an independent researcher who discusses accidental shootings:
Debunking the Myth of Accidental Shootings
A final area strongly affected by the media's anti-gun bias is that of accidental shootings. When it comes to this topic, reporters are eager to write about guns. Many of us have seen the public service ads showing the voices or pictures of children between the ages of four and eight, which imply that there is an epidemic of accidental deaths of these young children.
Data I have collected show that accidental shooters overwhelmingly are adults with long histories of arrests for violent crimes, alcoholism, suspended or revoked driver's licenses and involvement in car crashes. Meanwhile, the annual number of accidental gun deaths involving children under ten -- most of these being cases where someone older shoots the child -- is consistently a single digit number. It is a kind of media archetype story to report on "naturally curious" children shooting themselves or other children -- though in the five years from 1997 to 2001 the entire United States averaged only ten cases a year where a child under ten accidentally shot himself or another child.
In contrast, in 2001 bicycles were much more likely to result in accidental deaths than guns. Fully 93 children under the age of ten drowned accidentally in bathtubs. Thirty-six children under five drowned in buckets in 1998. Yet few reporters crusade against buckets or bathtubs.
When crimes are committed with guns, there is a somewhat natural inclination toward eliminating all guns. While understandable, this reaction actually endangers people's lives because it ignores how important guns are in protecting people from harm. Unbalanced media coverage exaggerates this, leaving most Americans with a glaringly incomplete picture of the dangers and benefits of firearms. This is how the media bias against guns hurts society and costs lives."
The entire article is quite long and can be found at http://www.sovereignty.org.uk/sitein...nd/gunlie.html.Ken Kaiser

if you do not think the statistics are biased against guns. I suggest you go to the FBI website and see for your self how their statistics are loaded against guns
example:
if a perpetrator invades a home and harms someone with a knife. then the homeowner stops the person from harming more with a legally owned firearm. their stats will show that a gun was involved in a crime. Yet the gun WAS NOT used in a crime it was used to prevent more crimes it should be listed as a crime involving a knife. As it used to be

Trust me if you live in DC and own a gun to protect your family good luck trying to get it back from the violent 300lb crack head that just kicked in your front door and took it right out of your hands.

The Most Powerful Man in America
... Justice Anthony M. Kennedy.
Kennedy voted with the liberals in the 5-4 decision regarding the Louisiana child rape case.
Kennedy voted with the conservatives in the 5-4 decision regarding the D.C. handgun ban case.
There are 4 liberals and 4 conservatives currently on the court. Kennedy's vote usually decides the case.
Add: Anthony Kennedy is not related to Edward Kennedy or his family.14-H

Kennedy, and by no means, Art. The name says it all. Dripping scotch from the pores, hosing any woman they can get their paws on, backing any tax hike ever proposed, BTW, writers of No Child Left behind, which Bush is constantly being blamed for passing, and, leftust liberal whack jobs of the century.
None alive could ever stand in JFK's shoes, even though along with all the good he did, he too was a hoser, drunk and dope addict.
Most of them belong in dog pounds let alone anything to do with our government.

32 years of what?????
to my knowledge the d.c. area has topped the list (or close) as one of the most unsafe places in the country. seems the 32 year d.c. gun ban has really worked out well. public record across this great country provides well substantiated data that allowing responsible gun ownership lessons violent crime.....
please dirtbags...... try to enter my home and cause my love ones harm...... please......
