Thanks Mark. When you posted the first pic I couldn't for the life of me remember if I hit the pin or not! I guess I was up to late drinking the night before.

Thats a great pic Laurie. I think it was his drummer who drove the DeSilva "Ring of fire" as a matter a fact...last I knew ...Your brother was the owner of that boat. I've wanted to buy it for years.

Dick Pond Drove that boat. Isn't that boat in the Country Music hall of Fame? That is Where I saw it.

Then this boat is not a DeSilva.Marshall Grant owned Ring of fire an ring of fire jr. an Billy Seebold drove them as far as i know. Tell me some history about this boat. This is interesting i never knew this.A few years ago a guy came to Jesup Ga with a D merc. on a Grant tower that had ring of fire stamped on it.It is hard to say if it was or not a rihg of fire tower, Marshall may know, later it was for sale on HR would be nice if it was on the boat.

                      Ring of fire

There was a few ring of fire runabouts. And a few hydroplanes named "Sue" or Sue 2. Not sure about the hydro's but the runabouts were built by Ralph DeSilva. At least thats the way I heard it. Last I knew One of the ring of fire runabouts was purchased by Mr. Billy Allen and was in an undisclosed location here in upstate NY waiting for a restoration.

Sometime back in the seventy's a friend of mine went to Cash's house with his parents. He says there was a boat in the pool, with ring of fire painted on it.

Johnny Cash's drummer was W.S. Holland he drove tunnel boat's in the 70's. I raced against him in what was U class at that time. The team was called Music Maker's. They had great looking stuff. There is a lot of history on BRF about johnny Cash an Marshall Grant who was his manager.Marshall's hydro's were Byers an Marchetti at that time.

                            Quiz Question:

Does anyone know/remember what single, owner-installed part changed this from a fishing motor to a class B Stock Outboard racing engine?
