After all the work....

The dust, the many posts and questions answered, an engine found courtesy of Dale Bishop, Sponsor of many region 11 class boats and person who should get allot of credit for helping kids get into boat racing, number 2C, a Lovecraft boat given by Bill Curtis (Kevin Curtis SST45 boat 990) and many many others, we loaded up and finally were off and on the road at 8:30 Friday night to Parker, which was a 6 hour drive at 90. A crossing through the most barren god forsaken stretch of desert housing many cookers of meth....Then we saw it....Welcome to Parker...We drove across the bridge about 2AM into what would unfold to us as this amazing desert paradise.

The months of preparation, skinned knuckled, dust boogers and cost had finally come to a head for this 15 minutes of glory.

Katie's first race, first boat, paint job, etc, me next to her. Photo courtesy of

Three generations of boat racers pictured here. Austin Price, George Price ( designer/builder of GP Hydros ) and Paul Price. Actually, Austin is a fourth generation racer; George's Dad raced back in the 50's and 60's, I believe. Check out the paint scheme on Austin's J Hydro that his Dad Paul did..........watch out, it bites! Picture was taken at the Clarksville Hydroplane Challenge in October 2008.

Picture #1 is me and my Dad in the water helping my Uncle Bob Lowrey who had just finished a heat. ( 1973 )

Picture # 2 is me kneeling in a brand new Lowrey 4-point that my Grandpa Andy Lowrey had just finished with him looking on ( 1971 )

              Longbeach marine Stadium, 2007

The battle of the century, Rudy Ramos Allison powered GN, vs Super Cinders, Bob Pattersons famed GN.

Considering these boats usually run 500 inch V-8's, them guys had stones!

                  Longbeach, J class pits, 2007

Mel Baird, getting tips from his dad. We hope to see more of Mel in the future.

Amanda Rich, suited up, ready to run, KT behind her, Jim Rich, Amandas dad and his crew chief in the back ground.

Bunker Hill ( back facing the shot, Jay Littlejohn, ref, and a host of others, worked on Jared Wallach's rig. The biggest challenge was to remove the screen door spring someone installed as throttle return....

                          Attachments and Images

How do I attach a file to a post?

To attach a file to your post, you need to be using the main 'New Post' or 'New Thread' page and not 'Quick Reply'. To use the main 'New Post' page, click the 'Post Reply' button in the relevant thread.

On this page, below the message box, you will find a button labelled 'Manage Attachments'. Clicking this button will open a new window for uploading attachments. You can upload an attachment either from your computer or from another URL by using the appropriate box on this page. Alternatively you can click the Attachment Icon to open this page.

To upload a file from your computer, click the 'Browse' button and locate the file. To upload a file from another URL, enter the full URL for the file in the second box on this page. Once you have completed one of the boxes, click 'Upload'.

Once the upload is completed the file name will appear below the input boxes in this window. You can then close the window to return to the new post screen.

What files types can I use? How large can attachments be?

In the attachment window you will find a list of the allowed file types and their maximum sizes. Files that are larger than these sizes will be rejected. There may also be an overall quota limit to the number of attachments you can post to the board.

How do I add an image to a post?

If you have uploaded an image as an attachment, you can click the arrow next to the 'Attachment Icon' and select it from the list. This will be inserted into your post and can be located where you want it displayed.

To include an image that is not uploaded as an attachment and is located on another website, you can do so by copying the full URL to the image, (not the page on which the image is located), and either pressing the 'Insert Image' icon or by typing after it, ensuring that you do not have any spaces before or after the URL of the image. You can insert pictures from your albums (?) in this way too.

                            Chuck and His Dad

Foreground: Chuck and his dad, Don, both boat racers. Don told me that in a previous life he was a professional photographer for a newspaper. This would have been back in the days when "digital" only referred to a new-fangled type of clock. Chuck, I know you're out there -- care to share a father/son boat racing photo and a story?
