Great shots from Candlewick. Looks like Gene is enjoying his SideWinder BSH ride As you can see in picture 211 it is a nice place and we had good crowds all weekend.

Don Mackrell is my man but it looks like we have a new contender for photographer of the year. These shots are absolutely the best I have seen in years; the clarity and quality are magnificent!

Nice pictures. Question for Mr Hearn "does your helmet comply with the APBA General safety rule 3 (A)(2) page vii ?

                Ed's helmet

                Bill,
As the rule reads "...the upper 50%of the helmet must be florecent red, yellow or orange: or international orange.", but it does not state that it must be a single, solid, field of these colors. The way I would interpret this is that there are no colors on Ed's helmet that aren't on the list, therefore' legal.

I don't know if the commission has done anything to clarify this farther, but as it is written, that's how I would rule. As I am only a scorer and race director, I would hope my referee ( i.e. Teri or Jean ) would verify or dismiss my ruling.

Amazing picture. He hasn't seen it yet--taking some needed rest-I sent him the link to the picture. This photographer did a fantastic job!

I thought I should stop in here at hydroracer and say hello and thank you for the comments on the photos! I had a nice time at Candlewick last Sunday taking them as well as at the Rochelle event. Thanks to Chicago Paul, and each and everyone Ive met since. You all have certainly gone out of your way to help get me in the right spots to get the shots.

                            Hey Mike,

Welcome to HR I was wondering are your shots raw footage or have you done a bit of post processing also what lens did you have on your 30D at Candlewick? The clarity of your shots its amazing!

                              Dan
I use two 30D bodies. One with a 400mm 5.6L and the other I use a 70-200mm 2.8L IS. Both lenses are tack sharp but I like the 400 better. Sometimes its a little too tight to fit everyting in the frame so I switch back and forth between them as needed Canon makes a 100-400mm that would probably be perfect for this type of shooting on a single body. I run all my images with some general all puropose sharpening and some levels adjustmet as needed. I also do some cropping just to make sure the horizon is level if it looks a little off. If I have some I really like or want to make a prints of, I ususally go over them closely to make sure they are the best representation I can get. Theres just way too many images to do much editing on them other than that.
