That is very unfortunate about this weekend. Regarding the safe boating coarse, I keep up to date with my NY certification and just took the coast guard test again this winter. I ace it every time and I'm no rocket scientist. I recommend everyone look into taking their states coast guard safe boating test, if for nothing else we can all race again.

old guys still good to go

      for NJ

Persons born in 1949 or later must possess a Boating Safety Certificate by June 1, 2008.
All persons who wish to operate a power vessel must possess a Boating Safety Certifi cate by June 1, 2009.

DC has best deal, all online only $20..

When you pass the final test, you will be awarded an officially recognized, permanent boating education certificate which shows proof of meeting the legal requirements for Washington DC and for operating your boat while visiting other states that have mandatory education requirements. You will also have the option of receiving a temporary boating certificate that will allow you to operate a boat or personal watercraft (PWC) - today!

Howie-That link should be the one APBA promotes officially, that one is really nice. This will probably be nation wide before you know it.

Dave- It states anyone 1949 or later, that means anyone 60 years or older. Let the George Stillwell cracks begin, love ya Gearge!

          other racing requirements

Do the racers in other motor sports in NJ need to have a drivers license?

Especially the 8 year old karting, 5 year old quarter midget and 8 year old junior drag racers?

I did a USPS course a few years back and put the patch on my jacket sort of as a joke. I guess it is no longer a joke. I remember at the end of the course they told us if we lost our certificate, we could always apply for a duplicate, they kept the info permanently on file ... Thank you again Mr. Claude Fox

I sent another one your way. I'm sure you have read them all but it's tough posting from my phone. It looks like there may be exemptions for sanctioned races.

                              Matt,
I also read in the link that a person with a valid Coast Guard license could administer the test. I am licensed with an unlimited tonnage license. Let me know If I can help, I would be happy to do whatever I can to help get the certificates. I'm sure this could be done on site. Ill email you my cell #
