This is why I believe all APBA members should review this we need to give our Commissioners and BOD our opinions as to how our money is spent

Dan are you saying it cost you 10,000.00 to keep HR up and running?

If so, we need to think about a fund raiser for you.

No way my yearly operating cost run in the neighborhood of $4,000 give or take a few bucks which includes everything from server maintenance software updates/upgrades and hardware upgrades. 24/7 stand by tech support yearly which does not come cheap to rebuild the site in the event of a fatal crash. This really hurt me bad during the last few crashes when I had to pay a team of techs. to work 24/7 to rebuild the site.

The big line item *** My time= Priceless , I am just like all you guys, I have a day job and a family so putting a price tag on the time I spend sitting at the PC to update the site is time away from my family. *No dollar amount is enough as I am sure you will all agree.

            Footnote:

            * You can not run a professional web site off the family PC, you must have dedicated machines.

              some advertising and promotional stuff.........

the SO category spent money having the LARGE APBA Stock Outboard Racing decals made for racers trailers. It might not be a huge expense, but I do think it was well worth the money spent, as I have had several inquiries from people, after they seen the large decal on my enclosed trailer. These decals were given out to racers this year in the SO category. I believe John Runne was the man that got this done................WELL DONE John. I gave out all the ones I was alloted to Reg10/11/12 members.............but imagine more are needed.........

So Dan, what you're saying is that between 20-50 of us chip in so the other 2,000 can play? And they say there's no free lunch

Doesn't surprise me at all, Pat - I just like irony.

I'm not shocked that APBA has cash in the bank or net income. With the number of categories, and the number of ideas (hare-brained and well-thought out) within each category - how is that money going to get spent? Each category can't make up their minds what to do - we all pull in different directions, and God forbid anyone tries to tell us what to do. It won't change until enough of us decide we're in this more for the greater good and and a little less for ourselves. Unfortunately, as racers, we seem to be in it for ourselves even if we support the greater good.

I have seen this sticker and I thought it was made up buy the owner of the trailer. This is called promotion and should have been sent to every stock driver free of charge. If Drivers puts there mind to it there are plenty of good ideas to promote Boat racing just like this one I submit this, what if APBA gave an assoiate membership to everyone who purchased a new outboard from dealers either in some regions or the whole USA take the funds from all the catergory budjets or general fund and place in the Propeller
list of all races with addresses Dates approximate start times through out the country (not my Idea is one of Robbies about self promotion) I would rather see all catergories have more members and the bank account have less money like one of my son's say's arn't you suppose to spend money.
Ya Kristi it's Danny he is our Curt (and we have him on a budjet just ask David Or Jimmy)

This is what I'm talking about this is an excellent Idea but not to many APBA members knew about it they should not of been alocated but several sent to everyone and I for one would have put one on each side of my trailer
and there are no Stock outboards inside do you realy think the public
would know the difference. Again good Idea but not completely implemented.

Pat, this works great. AOF already does this. All of those selling equipment and motors to our boat racers in AOF get certificates. If it is a new motor a racer buys from one of the dealers, then they get a certificate from AOF for a one year membership. They can use it themselves or pass it on. A person selling parts gets a certificate for an Associate membership, or the equivalent to be used on a full membership. What is AOF losing? Nothing because we might not have had that member otherwise. What is it gaining? A chance to show a driver just how great grass roots racing is. (Not better mind you, than APBA, the more formal organization), but just as good on another level.
And, since AOF is one category for all kneeldown racing, it comes from the general fund which is one and all. Who determines what money will be used for promotion? The promotion committee, the President, and executive Director. The promotion committee consistes of all of the categories grouped into one. There is no one category getting more than another, and no fighting. I agree with Ed, when he said that APBA should be one category. It works out best. Those who really care volunteer for the Promotions committee and if htey didn't they don't need to complain.
                              Tony
