    HAverhill from region six.

Steve, thanks for the updates. I've got a truck packed, and a trailer on a hitch. Noon is getting close to a go or no go time, for me, anyway. As soon as you know, please call 231-420-0774 and let me know.
I understand now, that a one day event is bad for the yacht club, but as a marathoner, it is starting to look like just my kind of water, just dreamy. KampKurz

        Postponement

After another sleepless night and endless telephone conversations, the CYC and SSOA have decided to postpone the event until Otober 1 & 2.

The weather reports are the same so Sunday is a washout. As a one day race it is not economically possible for the CYC to breakeven at best and they are too gracious as a host to ask them to take a financial hit. If the storm stays as predicted, the Club will be preoccupied Saturday pulling members boats out of the water.

With all of that taken into consideration, it is in our collective best interest to regroup and shoot for the October date. The tides work to our advantage and we can run the Marathon at 4:00 PM to highlite the day.

Please pass this information along to others so that nobody is inconvenienced by this decision.

        Steve

          Thank you Steve.
This is good news for Silas and I. We could not make it this weekend but should be able to in October.

            Haverhill Oct. 1 and 2

Thanks for the call Steve. I know you are making the smart decision, as always. I look forward to coming on out to New England in the early fall.
On a side note, I have actually pared Haverhill down to two sylables, in order to not embarrass myself further. Of course it will probably take another year to straighten out everyone that I've bragged about the race to.
Here's to October first. Mark Kurz

Sweet……not that I would want to see everyone disappointed about this weekend but I will be done with my voyage from South Africa on a 10.5 kt ship and be able to make the first turn in a real boat.

and maybe something for the marathon…I just don't know if this one will fit through the first turn. I haven't been able to get it to roll up yet.

                        Might just work out afterall!

Just got a phone call. It went like this: "Mark, I'm in for Hav-her-hill" (I promise to work on this) I said"It's Hayvrill, October one and two, right?" Dave Umbarger says "I'm in." Our TOMORC club commodre says he can make those dates.
I may be able to play the marathon high points race out for all it's worth. We have a lot of 'short-course' marathons and the race for high points could end up close enough to convince a couple friends, we'll see. KampKurz

                          October 1st and 2nd

We are very sorry to have to cancel the races this weekend. We have a great deal of concern for the boats on the docks and the dock system. With heavy rains going all the way up into NH the river will be running hard. As a precaution to not loosing the dock system, the smaller boats are pulled and put on trailers and the larger boats end up on a mooring field in front of the launching ramps and beach area. This will be done Friday and Saturday so when the storm hits here will be no extra drag on the docks.
October 1st and 2nd should work fine for racing with some foliage showing along the river. There are usually crisp clear days on the water in October. Hope to see all of you then.
I am already working on changing the Coast Guard and State Permits.
