Bureaucracy - gotta love it! It took 6 months to get the federal permit to hold the races on the Merrimack River and 4 days to get one from the State of Massachusetts. The race is on a tidal river and is located 19 miles up river from the Ocean. On Saturday low tide is at 11:45 am and high tide is at 4:00 pm with a 5.75’ difference between low and high tide. There will be a beach in the early part of the day that will almost disappear around 4:00. For those that were there last year they know, the water moves.
Race information packets went in the mail to Region 1, 2, and 3 Outboard members on Thursday August 5th. Sanction # 10697 is up on the APBA site and list the classes to be run. If you would like to receive a race packet, email snoury@comcast.net.
Just back from vacation and checked in at the Yacht Club. Grounds have been cleaned up, brush has been cut back, boats and trailers have been moved out of the way. Looks like we are ready for racers.

Only 1 week to go!! Want to say Thanks to Dave and all the club members at the yacht club who work so hard to put on such a premier event!
The club also has some raffles and the food is delicious! The usual fare is available but the chicken shikabobs were the best! See you next Fri in the pits!

Just got back from a promotional photo shoot at the Yacht Club with Steve N. It is always great to get press before the event. Two papers will have articles about the Haverhill River Run next week, one on Wednesday and the second on Thursday. It looks like everything is ready for another great weekend of racing. The fans are ready!

Final cleanup of the site Saturday August 21st. All of the CYC members will be sporting the 2010 River Run shirts. Will be available race weekend for $10.00!!
The Eagle Tribune (www.eagletribune.com) article should be in Tuesdays or Wednesdays paper, the photographer from last Friday was from the Eagle Tribune. The Haverhill Gazette (www.hgazette.com) article should be in Thursday’s edition.
