Found clear ponderosa pine at the local lumber store. Seems to do everything well. They even stock 1 by 12s in 14 ft lengths. Ralph tells me this is alright if I can't find sitka. He says Immelman or Ingleman Spruce is second to sitka and ponderosa pine is third choice

Oh yeah, I almost forgot to post on this thread. Here's my new Sorenson Yurok 13. Darrell Sorenson built it for me, as I have few woodworking skills and less patience for it. Darrell did a great job putting it together and it was on time and on budget. Thanks Darrell.
Also thanks to Tony Lombardo and Gene Shertz for helping shuttle the boat to me. And thanks to the many fine folks who have given me setup and driving advice.
I expect the boat to be quite formidable once I get comforable driving it. (and do some prop testing) This is the first side fin runabout I've ever driven. It's a very different method of turning, that's for sure! I can't wait to race it again!

What are you useing for stringer lumber? I know sitka is prefered
but up here almost impossible to get and really pricey. Want to get
              building but need info.

              Thanks!
Larry there is a place called McCormicks (SP?) lumber in Madison WI that has some nice Spruce.

              • Here is a picture of my finished boat and motor. I have had a chance to run it a couple of times now, and I love it. Thanks Derek for helping me with the boat design. It handles so nice.

                • Both decks are out of the molds on the 125/175. Next step is the bottom.
