John, I would have ran Southbury both years and won both. Mike was my team mate. I built his engines and props and taught him how to drive. In 66 I ran 1111B and 67 I ran 1US in A Runabout. In 66 I had 21 firsts and 1 fourth. In 67 I had 20 firsts, 1 second and 1 third. I went in the service for 68, but did run against and beat Mike a couple of weeks after he won the nationals in Seattle. The Desiato's running back then were Rusty (Earl's father) and Albert(Earl's uncle). I never knew either of them to be that fast while I was running. We never finished in that order at Nationals, Jim Downing was second in 66 and I think R Steven Hearn(Ed's father) was 2nd in 67. I did race again in 69, but was only 12 firsts with 3 second or third place finishes and a sixth at the nationals, but still good enough for the 1US, but I had lost interest and basically quite running steady after that year and completely quit after 72.
