Sunday's weather was actually more pleasant than Saturday as the humidity dropped, but the racing caliber did not.

The first class of the day was 125R with classic racing from Dominic Defiebo, Paulie Bosnich from the Prop Riders, and Buddy Tennell.

Paulie won the first two heats as Dominic jumped the gun and Paulie running second on the water won the heat. Paulie smoked everybody in the second heat, only to see the overall win go up in smoke with the carburater fell off in the third heat running second to Dominic. Erin Barth put 3 good heats together in the orange V-26, but Buddy Tennel put three great heats together to take it all.

Top Hydro saw 3 boats with Sean Mckean and Brandon trading heat wins and Ike Yoder finishing only one of the two heats. Sean on time took it all.

175H had a lot of gunjumpers and lots of attrition as Ralph Donald and Diane Murray each had a heat win, a DNF or GJ to tie on points and Ralph took home the victory based on time. Unreal as the gremlins were really out in this class as Diane took out a piston and Ralph jumped each in different heats with Buddy getting a second and a JG in his heats.

We started with 13 250H in 1A/1B, but only had three finish in 1A and 4 in
1B and then Brandon trashed his 250 in his heat and scratched. But, that is only a part of the story for Brandon. In his heat he and Chris Hellsten were in a real battle only to see Chris' motor go away as he and Brandon came through the bottom turn, and then Brandon' s in turn later in the heat. The heat then went to David Mitchell. A call out from our turn judge in the bottom as need to have the exit pin replaced as someone, he did not know who had hit the pin. Brandon came up after both heats were run and scratched and told us he was one who hit the buoy. That cost that young man 50 bucks, but gained him a whole lot of respect on the judges stand for a job well done. Eddie and Jacquie have many things to take pride in, but that is a memoral one for us on the judges stand. Thank you Brandon!!!

Ben Thompson had a scary incident, but not half as bad a Rob Erbel's. Ben was leading Rob down the back stretch when Ben's motor quit, Rob trailing just behind Ben in his wake, narrowly missed the back of Ben's boat. Nice job of driving Rob.

Later driving that brand new Cronk produced 250, Chris set sail for the beach and had plenty of help from Bren Thompson, the Bosnich Crew, and a whole host fromt the Thirlby crew as he poked a hole in the sponson fo that brand new boat while out front. Nothing much to report in 250H.

Overall in 250, Rob Erbel drove a smart 3 heats to take it home.

In 350R, it was all about MIKIE, as Mike Krier put a butt whipping on all the boys of 350R with 3 straight heat wins, with Tim Small with 3 seconds dominating the rest of the players.

    1100R
Mike and Preston Thirlby won the first heat in convincing fashion with Jim Kirts and Amy Nydahl finishing second. Ike Yoder with Greg Keller driving stoped on the front stretch and Mie and Jim finished up. Ike, ever the mechanic fixed the problem on the water, and then something I have not seen in a long time, got the motor to fire with the prop in the water and finished third. It reminded me of Deke and Mike with issues at the nationals with Deke Mechanicing down the straightaways to keep her running.

In the second heat, side by side rasing for three laps between Mike and Dwight Malhiot with Wendy Eldredge had the crowd on its feet until Mike pulled away at the last moment. Thanks Mike!!!

My thanks to Todd Brinkman, Fred S our referee, and to Sue, Denise, Dru, Pat, Katie, Bev, the best crew going, and Dan Kirts for his help with the PA and Pete G. for his spot on help.

    See you all at Depue,
    Ray

      Constantine Results

      Ray,

I'm always looking for your recap even if I was present. No other category provides recaps like you or if many cases even provide results at all.

Thanks for your great efforts. See you later this week in Depue.
