          Post-Saturday

We'd like to apologize for the lack of pictures, hopefully some can chime in sometime soon with some good shots. From the results standpoint, see below:

Friday MHRA hosted it's first Racer School of the year and the largest to date. With 12+ students taking their first ride in a stock or junior outboard hydroplane, the school can most certainly be called a success. A mixture of JH and 302/20SSH rigs had 6-8 laps on the race course solo with a 2-3 lap 'race-the-instructor' following. One of these graduates were able to race Saturday, competing in the 302SSH class and improving lap by lap.

Saturday had the first flight with good weather but rain-filled from the second flight until the end of the race day (clearing up after the last heat returned to the pits). Highlights of the day include:

          - 20SSH Race4KAOS leader Joe Pater with two 1st place heat-finishes.

          - AXR Joe Whetstone Memorial Race with 9 entries (award goes to the junior class with the largest participants). Winner to be announced tomorrow.

          - 7 entries in the 302SSH class with deck to deck racing each heat between Robert Lisius and Dean Sutherland. Winner Robert Lisius.

Special thanks to the American Legion #223! Racing at 11:30 AM Sunday!

              Thanks

Thanks for the pictures John, hopefully we'll see some more get posted up here soon.

              Highlights included:

The Joe Whetstone Memorial Race in AXR was determined by the total accumulated points over the weekend in that class - the winner was Nick Foster.

The Race4KAOS in 20SSH went to Joe Pater for the 3-peat.

Very close racing continued in 302SSH with lead changes on each lap.

The restricted 20 Sidewinder had very very strong performances in the B Classes.

2 new J drivers in Colin and Connor Handy competing in JH and JR.

Thank you to all who attended and helped to make the Joe Whetstone Memorial Regatta a success - although I know this doesn't include everyone, some standouts include:
Kai Pavlick for being the 'go-to' in multiple situations on the judges stand.
The Bonenfant crew for their 'get-it-done' attitude and risk management role.
Grace and Stephen Lisius from setup on Thursday morning to tear down on Sunday night.
Tim and Vicki Sidor for all the pre, during, and post race help that started months ago.
Amy Sweeney and her scoring crew for everything.
Mark Miskerik and Dean Sutherland in Racer School leadership and mentorship of past Racer School grads.
And Ed Harrington for being 36M's "crew chief" for Saturday.

Thanks to all who came - see you at Grass Lake in July!

Great highlights, but the biggest thanks should go to you, Elek Hutchinson. Elek has become a leader and workhorse within MHRA. He has taken our Racer School and promotion to a new level while also stepping up to be a race director.

Great job! With members like you we might just build this sport back.
