  • Hagg Lake, OR cancelled

    Just so everyone is aware:

    Here's word from Mike Johnson regarding cancellation of the Hagg Lake
    regatta:

    I have decided to cancel the Hagg Lake Regatta, due to Washington
    County Parks' long delay in signing the State Marine Board
    application and Special Use Permit (still haven't signed off). The
    County Sheriff had signed off, everything else was scheduled and in
    place. There is not enough time left for proper public noticing or
    the logistical planning needed for a new race on a heavily used
    public lake.

    Sorry guys.
    Mike Johnson

    Region 10 APBA outboarders that means your first races will be Yelm, WA, April 27-28, 2013, with the inboards (ASH, CSH, CSR, DSH, 500ccmh, 750ccmh) and Castle rock, WA May 4-5, 2013 (SO/MOD/PRO).

        I'm confused: Wasn't it the local government/Chamber of Commerce who contacted US (via APBA) to find out how to get boat races back on Hagg Lake?

        If so, why the foot dragging on the permit process? This makes no sense.

        No knock on Mike or CORA here.....I know how thrilled they were to be approached about a new race site. I'm just trying to figure out how it went sideways, since it appeared for once that we had the local Politicos ON our side, at least at the outset....
