  • Up next in Region 10: Little American Lake!

Today was our final pre-race meeting with the good folks at Joint Base Lewis McChord for our event on Little American Lake. All is set, and they are ready to go!

What was really cool to see were posters....all over the place....at JBLM. We gave them the initial Stock Outboard promo items supplied by the SORC, and they re-purposed and printed these on their own, paid for by the sponsors that THEY picked up for the event...and are promoting this FOR us!

This just keeps getting better and better. Hope to see lots of West Coast racers at this event.

AND (Cheyney, this includes you): If you did not send info to get pre-checked to get on the base, you CAN STILL ATTEND: You just need to go to the Base Visitor's Center where they will give you a single day, 24 hour pass to get on post. Bring your driver's license, vehicle registration, and proof of insurance to the Visitor's Center....and take a number.

We were going to do a Military-only Outboard Driving School on Friday, July 13th at the site, but this had to be cancelled due to a Special Forces Training Exercise that will be taking place on the lake that day. Try to think of it as a Free Air Show, with Chinook Helicopters, Paratroopers, fast inflatables, and heroes with guns. Should be cool to watch.

See you all in a few weeks,

              Simple

It's easy: you just go to the Visitor's Center each day. They will grant you a pass for the day.

Is this race on post, or is it just close to Lewis? Depending on $$ I might be able to make it up to this one...50/50 right now. Do vets race for free Also, is there camping in the pits, or hotel only?

                    Hi Jon,

It's on post, so your DOD ID card should get you on with no problem.

There is self contained camping in a field near the pits for $5.50/night; there MIGHT be some camper hookups ($25 a night) at at the Army Travel Campground, lakeside, near the starting line. Call Northwest Adventure Center at 253 967-8282 to check on site availabilities or to make a reservation.

I wish vets COULD race for free...maybe I can work something into next year's sponsorship deal next year for that.

                    Hope you can make it!

If you have all your paperwork squared away, It should take about a 1/2 hour to go through the visitors center. The Mp's/Security might have a look in your trailer too.

Unless there's something else major going on, my experience is that it takes 15 minutes or less at the Visitors Center. Bring your Drivers License, vehicle registration, and proof of insurance with you and you should get thru quickly.

Nobody at base security has said anything about inspecting vehicles or trailers, so I would be surprised if that happened. I did find out the other day that Radar Detectors are not allowed on post, though.
