      Cheyney,

The race at Little American Lake is taking place on JBLM (Fort Lewis). As such, anybody who is planning on attending, racer, family, crews, etc, has to submit to a background check. Not SOA's rules, but Uncle Sam's.

All I need is your legal name and your date of birth.

      Thanks,

Name and BD? A light duty security check. Fort Lewis is being nice, should do fingerprints, SS#, and a threat assessment form.

I think it's nice that Fort Lewis is allowing a race, so racers & crews should provide the required info, smile, and thank them for letting y`all race.

Smelt Farmer: Only if you want to get in.

            Bill,

The Army is being very good to us on a lot of fronts. What really helps is that SOA has a new racing member (Shane Burkhart) who is a retired officer, employed at JBLM as a civilian, and appears to be very well connected with the decision makers at JBLM. The base Brass and MWR staff is very excited about this event.

One of the extra things we are doing is hosting an APBA Outboard Driving School on Friday for Soldiers. We're even hoping to get some WTB members as participants.

And...did I mention that it's a pretty sweet race site, right next to I-5?

              Too Smooth

              Yo,

It looks too smooth to me !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

When we raced there way back when (in the 60's), the Non-Commisioned Officers Club was at the top of the hill. The waiter used to come through the pits and take orders.

              That's a true story.

I remember water skiing on that lake when I was stationed at Ft. lewis in 1990. It is a very nice place. If your school is advertised among the Companies' First Sgts you will have a line around the block!
