    R.I.P. Bob

I met Bob when I moved into the house across the street from him. I had never heard or seen a racing runabout. He showed me around his shop, then told me I should come out to Heart lk that weekend to see them race, and bring a helmet.. That was about 18 yrs ago, and I've been racing ever since. I will never forget the good times we had racing and working on equipment together. My condolences go out to Jody, Alex, Rick, and the rest of the family..

I ran CSR against Ricky and Bob, It didn't matter how close I got to the exit pin heading for the start. When I looked to see where they were they would both be inside of me.
I have many good memories of Bob, Tricky Ricky, and Terry.
      RIP Bob,

Bob's enthusiam was always evident. As everyone knows, he would always bring more than 1 of his 2 Person Mod Runabouts. He would find me and ask if I would deck ride. I was proud to deck ride for him many times. He seemed to be able to do it all...driving, boat building, motors, boat carts, even props. I admired that about him. I remember he showed up to a race with 2 DMR's on his trailer...they were set up side by side just like you see personal watercraft trailers. And they were both ready to launch right off the trailer! Haven't seen Bob for a while, but there is always something that reminds me of him. That includes his sons. Ric and Terry, I'm sorry about this news. Think of all the good times with him. BRB

My uncle Bob had the honor of being Bob M's deck rider at the
1987 Mod Nationals in Kansas.. Little short Uncle Bob and BIG Bob M. in the
same boat was a sight.. The Montoya family are in our thoughts and prayers.

              My time with Bob

When we were new to racing we showed up at a WIR race (Hart Lake probably) and this old dude came up to me and asked if I wanted to drive one of his boats. I explained to him that I had not a clue what to do, he didn't seem to care. I remember what seemed like ripping around the lake with Mike in back and me with this huge grin on my face as Mikey is behind me going "dad, I can't breath", which of course made me want to go faster so I could blame the Gs That launched me on my inglorious racing career that lasted all of another 2.5 heats. I also remember that Bob had brought his own personal dock to the race so he could get in and out of his boat easier, what a clever guy. I hope when my time passes that people can say about me what they say about Bob, that he was a generous and giving man that was a real asset to our sport.
