    Good luck guys!

Can you imagine one of these systems for every club? This weekend alone we could be in the pits and watch each other race from Newburg, Pleasant Prarie, Wi and Franklin, Pa.
    Some day......

All it takes is a high speed internet connection. Most clubs have someone with the hardware - whether they know it or not.

Sam is correct it is actually extremely simple. Any camcorder nothing fancy, a laptop and a simple tripod.

The camera and tripod in this photo are a bit high end but not necessary. This is the whole set up. The biggest problem when it comes to live streaming at outdoor events via USTREAM or any other free site is the connection speed. Hardware is the least of your problems.

Dan, is the connection speed which caused the slide like (stop & Go)streaming of last weeks Kitsap race?

Hey Phil, yes it’s all about the connection speed. At one point I was real excited about providing live streaming from a few races until I discovered that remote outdoor live streaming is a whole different ball game. There are products available to combat this issues http://liveu.tv/ but of course these are all cost prohibitive.

              Connection

We have a strong wifi signal here at Roger's Landing Park in Newberg (as I type).

I'm also going to experiment with boosting the frame rate to see if we can get a better feed.

I had some people telling us the feed was fine, others saying it was slow and jerky or stop and go, and still others saying it was in fast motion for them. Go figure.

There is a healthy dose of YMMV in all of this stuff.

Don't forget that the video feed is also regulated ( impacted) by the link speed and quality on the recieving end!
