  • Region 10-Outboard Classes at Inboard Lawrence

Okay. Now is the time to step up to the plate. Inboard Lawrence Lake (Yelm, WA 4/9-10) will be on a 1 1/4 mi record course. Six selected outboard classes will also race there. At this time the Seattle Outboard Association board of directors are taking recommendations for these 6 classes and will make a final decision at the February (2/8) BOD meeting. If your class is interested and you think you can assure us of at least 6 participants, please contact an SOA board of director or myself. We want to have a good showing (large numbers) and set records (who's fast???).

    Thanks

              One change to think about

I like Daves proposal, but maybe one day switch CSH and 20SSH, those CSH records are going to be REALLY hard to break at 3/4". Just a thought.

SOA says 6 boats per class,,, inboards rarely put up 4 for the event soo?? yes i will put up 6 boats for v-rude class if scheduled ,, and in all onesty probly have to have some step ups,,, but i will be there,,,

Yes, that's true. BUT, what does SOA gain from lining the inboard club's pockets with an additional couple entries? I mean it's not like we're talking about dropping to 4 entries by running 20ss.
I know they're helping us out by letting us in on the fast early season water, but I (and I think most people) get very excited to see people have the chance to set records, just saying.

                          Respectfully,
                          Mike

That conception isn't quite true lately. Sure, they have a couple classes that have low entry numbers, but so do we at any outboard race. The truth is that in the last few years the inboards have built up a couple of classes around here, and their 1 litre class could rival CSH for sheer number of entries.

In my opinion there's a couple reasons we want to come up with a reasonable number of entries. 1) It makes our club look strong, and that might help bring in an inboard crew member or kid or something. 2) They're inviting us to play at their party and we need to respect that, they're incurring additional sanction costs to have us there. 3) It's fast water that time of year, and if we have members of our club that have legitimate chances to set records we want to have a good relationship with the inboarders so that they have that chance in the future.

                            -Mike
