just wondering what day is the mile course and what day the 1 1/4 mile soo can come some what prepared....

I am really hoping they do a 3/4 mile course one day. From past experience, whenever we run the 3/4 mile course, it is on days we can't run the larger courses, due to weather, and we always break an impressive amount of records. Just imagine it if we run it on a good day....

        No 3/4 mi

Not 100% firm, but it looks like the record course will be either 1 1/4 mi or 1 mi for both days. We will know more and post when things are firmed up, but the course will be either 1 1/4 mi or 1 mi (3/4 mi is not in the plans) and if I were a betting man, it will be one of those two courses for both days.

Just the messenger & more to come soon.

We have run a 3/4 mi record course at Eatonville many times in the past. It is more work and costs more money. But if their is a group pushing for a 3/4 mi record course, start putting together sponsorship funds now and the SOA board and race director will consider it for next year.

We are willing to consider anything

              3/4 mile at Eatonville

Last time we tried it was an incredible amount of extra work and expense, we didn't really get a corresponding bump in entries, and it was a nice hot summer day with no records set (maybe a J or something). Like Jim said we CAN make it happen, we just need to make it worthwhile.

As wise man once told me he had the answer to anything: money.

Nah, I think Eatonville is a great site without the record. The mini marathon is great, we seem to get 130+ entries a day as it stands and I highly doubt we need anymore elements to the situation. Additionally, August weather does not add any speed...

I also believe having one record race (1 1/2 if you include Spring Lawrence) is plenty. I never seem to have as much fun at these types of races with the added intensity/pressure and racing is never as good.

My recollection of the last 3/4mi course at Lawrence is about four or five years ago when the weather was bad and we couldn't race on the big course. I remember being astonished at how many records were broken and saying to myself we should try to put this in the regular routine just like the 1 2/3 mile record - every once in a while or at least once every 2/3 years.

Added: Yes, I am on a personal agenda, but my opinion was the same years ago!!

I'd be off to Dayton next week to race their 3/4 mile as a solution to my situation, but other priorities call!

Well put John, thank you. And I understand where you are coming from. As with Eatonville, if enough push for a 3/4 mi record course at Lawrence, I bet we could make it happen. We are set for this year (1 1/4 or 1 mi), but next year??? Just start the communication early.

Congrats again on your national championships (3 pete) OSY-400 & (back to back) DSH...no fluke.

See you in a week & a half at Eatonville.

It will more than likely be the 1 mile course as I believe we ran just the 1 1/4 last year. We are limited on surveyor, equipment and time this year. We also need a great turn out to make this happen the following year as costs have gone through the roof.

If we get a great turn out this year I will make at least one of the days next year the 3/4 mi. course. We can talk about it at the drivers mtg. there this year.

Don’t worry Kyle; I will talk to Bill for you.

Bill, Kyle thinks he wants the 1 1/4 mile but what he is really saying is he wants the 1 mile even more. We should probably run the 1 mile course!

See Kyle, I got your back. We can talk about it tomorrow over a growler of Red Hook.
